Jenny Hewett trials the Eid pampering package at The Nail Spa.
The promise An all-encompassing pampering session, including a facial, neck and head massage and a classic mani-pedi.
Step by step After choosing a vamp hue for my mani-pedi, I’m escorted through the sea of manicurists to a small treatment room, where I lie face up on the massage bed. The therapist begins a 50-minute Angel Lift facial, which kicks off with some deep cleansing, followed by exfoliation, a light massage and a mask. I feel completely relaxed, though at one point I need to ask the therapist to remove the residue stinging my eyes. When it’s over, I’m given a small gift bag, inside of which is a Deborah Mitchell Vanilla Pod hand and nail cream to take home. Then I’m taken to one of the communal seats outside for a classic mani-pedi. Two therapists begin on my hands and feet as another starts firmly massaging my back, neck and shoulders, working out any tension.
The result I look and feel refreshed after the facial and my feet and hands are finally in a more presentable condition – good enough to show off in strappy sandals all week. The neck and shoulder massage releases all tension built up from a day sitting at my computer and I sleep like a baby that night.
Pros • The instructors are really friendly and helpful. • The mani-pedi is flawless.
Cons • The facial therapist used the products on my eyelids and around my eyes, so they began stinging, though it was expertly removed with a wet tissue when requested. • Though there are TV screens, there was no entertainment to enjoy, and turning a magazine during a mani-pedi can be tricky.
