The promise A quick pre-party fix featuring a classic mani-pedi followed by Tips & Toes’ new ‘quick fix’ 15-minute make-up application.
Step by step I choose my polish colours for both my hands and feet before making my way over to a treatment chair – the only one left available on a busy Friday evening. My feet are scrubbed vigorously before being soaked, leaving them satisfyingly smooth, then scrubbed again afterwards – the pedicurist is impressively thorough. As my nails are filed, the manicurist begins, and happily heeds a request not to cut the cuticles. Less than an hour after arriving, my hands and feet are sorted, and I’m offered a few drops of quick-drying solution – ideal for prolific smudgers. Next up, the 15-minute make-up session. I decline powder, and a light dusting of bronzer is applied before I choose my eyeshadow from three small palettes. I also opt to have liquid eyeliner.
The results The pedicure is fantastic and the polish on the manicure lasts an impressively long time before even the slightest chips begin to appear. The make-up, however, is a disappointment, and I end up removing it as soon as I get home and apply my own before I head out.
Pros • For a mani-pedi, the service is impressively speedy, and the quick-dry drops mean you could pop in here on your way out.
Cons • The make-up session needs improving. A little extra training could make this a great value add-on service. At the moment, amateurs could do a better job at home in the bathroom. They could also introduce a primer or base instead of going straight to powder.
