The rise of wearable tech has been seen people picking up little victories in the fitness stakes with more and more often. From realising that walking up and down your stairs just twice a day burns plenty of calories, to getting out of the taxi round the corner rather than at the front door, people are getting fitter.
And now Lipton Green Tea have come up with the idea of a pedometer in a shopping trolley, known as 'Fit Cart'. As part of their Live Good Initiative to promote healthy lifestyles, this first step has inspired Time Out to help you get fit for free.
So, without a further ado, here are a whole heap of classes, events and hacks to help get you started.

With an eye on the 2017 Nike 10k in Dubai, the sportswear giant organise regular group running sessions in Downtown Dubai, bringing a variety of head coaches down to help you strive to achieve your best result. Where: The Beach, opposite JBR When: Every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, from 7am What: It doesn’t matter if you’re a long-time yogi or just getting started, there’s no better way to kick-off your day than by joining the group to stretch, bend and breathe your way to a better you. All you need to bring is a mat, towel and water. How: First come first served
Where: (Almost) Every gym in town When: All day, every day What: Almost every gym and fitness studio will encourage you to try before you buy, offering free classes to first timers. So whether you're ready to dip your toe into spinning, and twist your arm into some yoga, there's an easy way to see if it really is for you. How: Just rock up, or book online, depending on the class.
Where: Illuminations Well-Being Center When: Monday 4pm-6pm What: Happy Hour healing seminars in which attendees openly discuss topics related to wellness such as hypnotherapy, meditation, energy healings and nutrition. Where: All over town When: Ongoing What: Sahaja Yoga in Dubai offers a free meditation session to beginners and those in desperate need of restoring balance and awareness. Where: At home When: Whenever you can What: Forget signing up for expensive classes – there are thousands available to follow on YouTube completely free of charge for you to tackle in your living room.
