Jenny Hewett tries the Indulgence package with a scalp massage add-on at The Spa The Address Dubai Marina.
The promise The ultimate in relaxation, this lengthy treatment involves a body scrub, detoxifying wrap, a Balinese massage and ends with a nourishing 25-minute scalp massage add-on.
Step by step We’re escorted through the spacious, maze-like spa facilities, squeaking as we go in the comfy, flip-flop-like sponge slippers, to a dimly-lit treatment room, where the therapist instructs us to lie face-down on the bed.
After cleaning our feet with a warm towel, she begins an exotic bamboo scrub, buffing away dead skin with firm strokes and paying close attention to our knees, armpits and elbows. The residue is then removed with warm, damp towels before a towel is removed from underneath us and we’re lying face up on a plastic film. She applies the detoxifying seaweed wrap, which smells just like sushi, and cocoons us inside. The heated bed ensures we stay warm instead of icky and wet and a brief scalp massage is applied before we are instructed to shower off the seaweed product. We return for a Balinese massage, using hydrating oil and applying just the right amount of pressure, working out the tension in our back and shoulders. Finally, a blissful scalp massage, which also uses oil.
The result Our skin is super soft for days and we start the working week in an ultra-relaxed state. The massage was especially good for our sore muscles from yoga earlier that day.
Pros • The spa is massive and there are plenty of facilities to enjoy. • The Therme products are ideal for those with sensitive skin.
Cons • Unfortunately the curtains are drawn, so there’s no peeking at stunning views of Dubai Marina.
