Animals are matched with sitters based on an online profile to ensure a suitable match, before a meeting between animal and sitter to assess compatibility.
The intention of the service is to prevent animals being abandoned when owners are travelling away from home, and in the summer months the new service looks like it will be vital.
The cost of lodgings are at the discretion of the sitter, although some do not charge for their services.
It is free to sign up to be a sitter, but after three months a monthly subscription fee of Dhs100 applies thereon.
The service launched last month and so far Dupaws have had over 30 requests.
Mohammad Khomakho, the Jordanian founder of dupaws.com, told Time Out Dubai: “Dupaws primary purpose is to help pet parents find an affordable, convenient and stress free place for their pets before they leave for holidays.
“On the other hand it allows animal lovers to spend some quality time with animals without having to commit on adopting or buying without being sure of keeping them forever.
“It’s a triple win solution for pets, pet owners and pet lovers.
“Many cats and dogs become vulnerable and sensitive when their parents leaves them for extended periods of time.
“With Dupaws pets will get extra attention and space to reduce their stress levels and help them cope with situation easier.” For more details, go to www.dupaws.com.
