Win prizes for Foto Weekend by Gulf Photo Plus

Foto Weekend by Gulf Photo Plus is nearly upon us, a four-dayphotography fest where five international snappers will be training Dubai’s budding photographers through a series of orkshops.

To celebrate, we’re offering six Time Out readers the chance to get snappy.

First prize: A place on the two-day From Capture to Print workshop. A day of shooting is followed by a more technical workshop, taking participants on a journey from concept to process to print. November 19, 1pm-8pm and November 20, 10.30am-6.30pm. You’ll need a digital SLR camera, lenses (ideally mid to zoom), memory cards and a fully charged battery. A tripod, if you have one, is advisable.

Second prizes: Two spaces are up for grabs for the Portraits Tips and Tricks lecture, and we’re giving away another two spaces for the Posing and Directing People lecture. The former helps you to interpret a subject and learn the secret to bringing out the best in people and hiding their flaws. The latter explores the photographer/ subject relationship so that both can collaborate to create the best image. November 20. Portrait Tips and Tricks at 10am-1pm; Posing and Directing People at 2pm-5pm.

Third prize: A place on the Digital Scrapbooking workshop will help you to create professional-looking scrapbook pages and photo album projects using nothing more than standard photo-editing software. November 22, 9am-3.30pm. Sort, edit and bring up to 150 of your favourite shots (on a specific theme) in the Jpeg file format on a USB stick or CD/DVD. Ensure that these shots are the original full-resolution files, are rotated to the correct orientation, are sharp, and tell a story.
