I feel kazana deserve one of the best restaurant in Duabi last ten years.
I am regular visitor to Kazana and I feel only the Kazana Restaurant kept the standard and quality of food and services. and one of the oldest restaurant in Duabi.

Mezza house has excellent food services, excellent atmosphere, and wonderful location
Comment by Mohammad Haj Ahmad — Tuesday, 18 March, 2008 @ 12:13
OK - I get the impression that Mezza House is proving popular.
But lets hear it for some of the other restaurants in Dubai?
You are going to have to wait a few more days to see what Time Out thinks. The awards will be announced on the 25th of this month.
But I want to hear your opinion?
What about Verre? Or some of the smaller independent restaurants? Anybody dined at Ravi’s? What do you think is the best brunch in Dubai?
Let the world know your opinion.

I was very surprised that when i browsed through the nominations i failed to see that this new restaurant Junsui at the the iconic Bruj al Arab was not included in any of the nominations like the best Newcomer, Southeast Asian or Family. I really thought that they would be nominated for at least one. It has a huge variety of food selection and a very chic decor. It is not even listed on your food directory. Maybe you should really look into to this?? Value for money? Great food and service? It really is all there.
Comment by Bernadette Chin — Tuesday, 18 March, 2008 @ 01:45
My vote is definitely for Bice. It is the best combination of fine cuisine and delicate service. If you have not tried Bice yet you surely haven’t got a clue for what fine dining is!

In all honesty, I prefer going thru your review and list of winners than what the other mag does. They say it’s down to popularity in the case of the other mag, but then again, if you choose a winner by simply being in a participating restaurant handing you a form to fill up to spice up a vote in their favour, then it’s not really a pop choice.
Am glad your shortlist is made up of places like Verre to Ravi’s, from Tang to More, and from Rhodes to Maria Bonita. With the mushrooming resto scene in Dubai, must have been difficult to come up with a shortlist.
Have to say though, I am raring to go back to Rhodes. Yes the white tomato soup is a knockout, and the simple joy of having Sauterne with the Foie Gras is just that (real joy)—-and oh, don’t forget the B & B Pud, but to find a resto that does not hurt the swiping of the plastic merely because of the knowledge that you’ll get just the finest and the freshest prepared and cooked to their best, in inflation-hit Dubai, is a wonder.
Will be utterly, profusely disappointed if Rhodes lose. And I do not mean that just because I’m a fan of Gary’s. Mind you, I even think he’s an ****** for being able to cook better than me!!

I would like to spend some times on how many good restaurants are in Dubai and everybody knows how different all of them are. Please vote Rhodes, we are bored of Gordon’s food!!! It is time for a change!!
Comment by Giacomo Puntel — Tuesday, 25 March, 2008 @ 02:01
Just heard on the grapevine that Rhodes is a highly commended restaurant, on this fact you are wrong! Rhodes is the best restaurant Dubai has ever seen! It brings something new to the table that we havent seen in Dubai and that is food and service of the highest quality, without the need for gimmicks or trickery. Yes i am a fan…

It was with great humility and honor that we accepted the “best Family Restaurant” award yesterday, specially in the presence of so many devoted and worthy candidates.
We dedicate this award to the Johnny Rockets staff and employees that have worked so hard to achieve this milestone.
We firmly believe that providing Motivation, Incentive, and comfort to the employee makes all the difference in the bottom line, for they are our image in front of our most valuable asset… OUR CUSTOMER. As we believe that setting a standard, and doing all you can to adhere to that standard, is what this industry is all about.
We thank Timeout and all those who nominated us and entrusted with this precious award, and look forward to being there again next year!!!!!

Seafood
Forget all that hoo-ha. Has anyone tried food at the Sea World. Unpretentious, fast friendly service, well-lit (imp when ur eating seafood-trust me).about the aquarium…meat-eaters- would like to see cows roaming around in a steakhouse?? get my point?
Indian
obviously the ‘tasters’ are less adventurous and try out the more common restaurants with the whole ‘ambience’.Makes it more like a ‘Experience Award’. I’ve eaten ‘butter chicken’ from a roadside eatery which was waaaay better than ‘THE BOMBAY’. so Time Out please review the credentials of your food tasters.soory for sounding rude but food is IMPORTANT BUSINESS!
Steakhouse — EXCHANGE GRILL ..Great Choice…juicy, just-there steaks!! (i can hear someone saying,” Finally he stopped whining!!”) ;)
Independent—LemonGrass…Once again a WINNER! Ravi restaurant was a good nomination. recommendation- try a restaurant called Manvaar (Indian Cuisine)…could fall either under Independent or Indian for the next Awards
Family - Johnny Rockets …is a fine choice
Surprised not to find Spice Island in any of the categories
Better picks next time maybe huh? then again…your always going to have critics…Only the best have them…Well Done Time Out…Great Job Great Effort!!
Waiting for 2009!!

Very disappointed for the second year on the row of the decision made during the Tima Out Awards…
There is anyone in Time Out magazine who understand the meaning of fine dining and quality food ? To me , in the industry from 14 years , and dealing with hight quality restaurants and bar’s, look critics nedd’s to open not the eyes, but the palate!!!
Comment by Giacomo Puntel — Wednesday, 26 March, 2008 @ 07:34

I believe critics now should go trough a training and lern how to open the palate, and keep the eyes close to understand the meaning of food and flavours!!

Hello!!! There is anyone who understand the meaning of Class in your magazine ? And who is there knows what I’m talking about!!

I’m shocked that TimeOut Dubai would select Noble House at Raffles as the Restaurant of the Year. The outlet has only been open 3 months! Hardly time to prove that they can remain consistent against the competition. Granted re the other awards particularly newcomer but don’t you think you guys are insulting the restaurant industry by selecting a restaurant that even in their own publicity material says it was a shock since they have only been open a short time. Maybe a rethink of your criteria. To qualify for restaurant of the year and not make a mockery of the awards, I think the outlet should atleast be operating for a year. Food for thought!!
Comment by Sharon G — Thursday, 27 March, 2008 @ 02:58
Fully understand Time Out’s decisions couldnt give it to Verre three years runing and it’s about time we looked at another cuisine rather than european. Noble House is excellent (maybe not the best yet, but in time who knows) so i guess give it to them. Not a critical decision but a fair one.
