The Trilogy nightclub has shut down. The rumours are true.
The Madinat Jumeirah club recently introduced a member’s only scheme and will be terminating the memberships.
The club website currently has this message for clubbers:
Please be informed that as of February 24th, Trilogy will be closing its doors for redevelopment. We are currently looking into different options for this unique venue, and we will be happy to share these with you in due course.
Unfortunately these plans will entail the termination of all memberships as we do not intend to reopen as a night club. All membership applications currently under process will also be terminated.
If you have any questions regarding the closure, please contact our Trilogy hotline on 050 558 3053. We apologise for any inconvenience we have caused, and thank you for your support and understanding.
The Trilogy Team
So, it is not going to open up as a nightclub. I’m hoping for a full scale, multiple team laser quest arena. Or a permanent home for the Krystal Dinner Show.
But it will probably be a restaurant. Because that is what Dubai really needs - another high class restaurant.
Tell us what you want to replace Trilogy by adding a comment below.
Time Out will forward your suggestions to the Jumeirah hotel group.
Dance floor or laser quest arena?

Upstairs lounge or Kabaret VIP?

To me and most of my friends it does not matter whether they re-open or not, we had a very bad experience in this outlet and since then until now, we never returned to that place. The management and staff were so discriminating and very rude, and the prices??? Total rip off!!!

I think a laser quest arena sounds absolutely fab. Image going on a killing spree followed by a juicy steak at the Meat Company!!! We do not need anymore food outlets - lets have some novel ideas that promote a more active lifestyle. Look at Disney Quest for inspiration since Dubai is so terrible fond of the Disney lifestyle.

I will hope its going to be an indoor skydive area

Something more interactive and fun would be great for Dubai. There is such a diversity in restaurant choice already here, we really don’t need any more. Dubai boasts about being dynamic and pioneering so lets have something new, fun….and affordable.

Dubai’s first Gladiatorial Games Arena? I’m sure someone will lend their pet tiger.

I’m guessing that Trilogy was cramping Madinat Jumeirahs posh style & caused heavy road/traffic blocks. It was apparent when they shifted to membership but I guess that too affected their business & so what concept remains is a restaurant/lounge with a live band or private concerts held (like in Chi). The place is huge & i guess they will definetly renovate & divide it into a few restaurants.
Comment by Hannah — Tuesday, 26 February, 2008 @ 04:50
Never liked Trilogy! Also had a couple of bad experiences there! Anything will be better! A Gothic Style Bar & Lounge wouldn’t be bad !! ;)

I think a roller club … 60’s theme … Skate, drink and workout … :) kinda like the one in Gold Memeber :)

that laser quest idea does sound good.. i miss Q-Zar
Comment by rishaad — Tuesday, 26 February, 2008 @ 08:01
Honestly!!! The Jumeirah group don´t know how to run clubs!!! The only reason why Trilogy has been on top was because the prevoius Spanish Manager. Since he left the club as ben going down the hill!!
They will never learn!!!
Shame !!!
Comment by Mark — Tuesday, 26 February, 2008 @ 08:15
We are an expat family of seven, ages ranging from 13-43, and all of us think it would be a great idea to make it a laser quest area because we live in the area and it would be great to be able to go as a family on the weekends.
Comment by Maryam Ruiz — Tuesday, 26 February, 2008 @ 08:55
No dance music on the terrace + no smoking inside = no punters = closure.
Comment by Nick — Tuesday, 26 February, 2008 @ 09:14

what happened to you Trilogy team .. its one of my fav places in Dubai ,, and now it’s gone ,, im really disappointed and sad .. Dubai doesn’t need any more restaurants .
Comment by Amy — Wednesday, 27 February, 2008 @ 01:03
as a vetrine of trillogy. I just stoped going there last year. after changing the manigment (from manuel and jessica to now whoever), the place went down in flames. and I knew it would close down after I found out the new policy (members only). thank god I stoped going there when it was still good. Elagante is the new IT place for clubgoers (after deep night moved there).
Comment by mohammed — Wednesday, 27 February, 2008 @ 01:39
I loved Trilogy, sad to see it go, Dubai does not need another posh restuarant!!
Comment by Michelle — Wednesday, 27 February, 2008 @ 02:01
Why not have a Paintball (Skirmish) Venue, its something new, not available in Dubai yet, and its suitbale for all ages, fun and safe.
Dubai has got all the water park activities, Sand/Desert and Snow, why not add the Paintball activity as well, if the area of Trilogy is big enough then maybe that would be an idea.
Cheers

Trilogy was one of the best clubs in Dubai.. surprised to find out that its closing down. What about Deep Nights, are they really going to be held in Elegante??!!
Elegante is great, but the location ssucckss!
Comment by Mariam — Wednesday, 27 February, 2008 @ 09:09
An Imax movie theatre, or perhaps an arthouse / indy cinema complex? Live music venue would also be great, god knows you cant go anything to catch original, unsigned acts , sick of the cabaret live music shows!
Comment by Michael — Wednesday, 27 February, 2008 @ 09:52
How about an indoor rock climbing arena. That would be cool! The only other one is in Wafi & that’s too far for those living in the Dubai Marina area, not to mention the traffic if you have to drive all the way to Wafi.
Comment by Grace — Wednesday, 27 February, 2008 @ 10:16
Whats the real reason TRILOGY has shut down??..I am sure there is some hankypanky involved - they wont tell us why..hmmmmm
Comment by Rashid — Wednesday, 27 February, 2008 @ 10:20
Trilogy was an absolte disgrace. I’m at a loss as to why Jumeirah would promote such a tragic venue with equallly sad clientelle. It can only get better from here! Dubai has same fantastic restaurants and fairly cool bars but nightclubs just don’t work here.
Comment by Rachel — Wednesday, 27 February, 2008 @ 10:27
I feel like Nelson Munz in the Simpsons, the kid who points to a loser and goes ‘HAAA-ha!’ Serves them right, Trilogy were destined to fail ever since they implemented the hare-brained membership scheme, just hope that members get their due refunds….
That said, had some pretty memorable nights there, thanks to Andy Cato, Danny Howells, Chris Fortier, Fancuilli etc.
Comment by Vishal — Wednesday, 27 February, 2008 @ 10:43
Trilogy was never a great club anyways, I hated it so much. Agreed with previous comments, management was descriminating and rude at times, so will never feel the loss of this awful club. It will be a shame if they open up another boring and pricy restaurant, It should be converted into some interactive stuff, like an icerink on the groundfloor and may be some good arcade machines firstfloor area. Even laser quest is not a bad idea though.
Comment by Ramon — Wednesday, 27 February, 2008 @ 10:51
I think they should consider opening another club scene at the former Trilogy with high end DJs coming to the region. We work pretty hard here in Dubai and need to unwind on the weekends.
Work hard and play hard.. make sense??
Comment by Nicole Tulsi — Wednesday, 27 February, 2008 @ 10:53
A prison with a crocodile pond in the dancefloor area. Put all those descriminating and rude staff into the cells. Anyone tries to escape, they should become food for the crocodiles. No one will miss this club and its awful staff. RIP
Comment by Ramon — Wednesday, 27 February, 2008 @ 10:56
SHEESHA PLACE!!! we need more of those….:D
Comment by RB — Wednesday, 27 February, 2008 @ 01:26
I agree with Michael: an arthouse cinema would be great… the only films you get to see in Dubai are the big blockbuster types, no fringe theatre exists. Or turn it into a giant IBO!!
Comment by Terry — Wednesday, 27 February, 2008 @ 01:51
Change of Management + Rude & Discriminating Staff = CLOSURE !!!!!!!!!!
Had some bad experience, and fell true coz i can see alota ppl here wit the same comments. Considering Dubai, the trilogy team shudnt have kept quite to discrimination of clubbers .
what ever comes up, hope it serves the public !!!
And to all you so called members out ther , bad choice of investment !!
Comment by Fahd — Wednesday, 27 February, 2008 @ 04:05
I suggest that it be converted to WORLD CULTURAL PERFORMANCE CENTER where there are live performances from all the more than 250 countries around the world showcasing dance, music, songs, drama, art live on stage!
Comment by Eric — Wednesday, 27 February, 2008 @ 04:46
Trilogy was the most happening club and a destination for all clubbers who were looking for the next big DJ. The world’s top djs have played there, we had a blast at the rooftop, great weather, 3 rooms with different choices of music, chilling out upstairs with shisha and drinks while dancing, or going to down for some house. The only reason staff was strict (rude) was to prevent certain types of people from entering. The discrimination that went on was on under-age kids or drunken people who caused chaos regularly. The staff were polite at every time and the bartenders simply couldnt handle the huge amounts of people that clearly exceeded the capacity of the club. Too many kids- and change of management had an impact too. The r n b room was becoming miserable and it seemd like an open club to anyone who walked by. Memberships were necessary to make it exclusive. But it all went wrong for some reason. Funnily enough, memberships were free!! It was all about making a safer and more exclusive place. People took it in the wrong way. Yes its shame the club went down after being on the top for so long. And no, we do not need ANOTHER restaurant, posh or not. A lounge sounds ideal, something like Buddha Bar or Lotus One. Low-key, high-profile, infusion style, chill out music, cocktails, occasional fashion shows all sounds good. A place to mix business and pleasure. Must say i was relieved that Ben at the rooftop was launching a drum n bass night every Tue. Dubai def.needs more d&b. Can’t imagine Trilogy (or whatever it will become) operating in the daytime! Ice rink??!
Comment by Heba — Thursday, 28 February, 2008 @ 02:37
How about they close it temporarily … put in a more elevators to get to the rooftop … or even change the setup of the stairs going to the rooftop…
Step 2 they should make the r&b room bigger
Step 3 the existing r&b room could be for 80s style music
Its a super club … they should use the space more than having the main dance floor, back section and balconies all listening to the same music…if they separated it then it would appeal to more people.
Plus i feel they should be stricter on the door policy…too much rif raf going in there!
Until then - it will be missed … then again it has been missed as the past year it just hasn’t been the same!

I want the old trilogy back… it was one of the top rated clubs in the world… had so many unforgetable nites there… deep dish, danny T, ATB, roger sanchez, sebastian & ingresso, axwell, david guetta… some ppl have voiced their concern abt:
1) the pricing at the door went into Deep Nites pocket… if u go to elegante (in bur dubai!!!!), the enterance fee is still above AED 140/- for low-tier djs…
2) drinks were expensive @ trilogy so is the case at any other bar in madinat jumeirah… this country is expensive… u earn money n u spend… trust me, if they make a restaurant or a lounge in place of trilogy, the drinks will be in the same range…
3) door policy varied over different nites… discrimination!!! i would say it’s another norm in clubs in dubai… go to elegante (in bur dubai!!!), club 400, 360, sho cho’s, peppermint and you will face the same issues…
trilogy was by far the best club in town… the only one with a proper design for interior (awesome) n not like other places seem like a big garage full of ravers…
Comment by Asim — Thursday, 28 February, 2008 @ 10:08
how about a permanent Cirque Du Soleil venue…
Comment by rima — Thursday, 28 February, 2008 @ 11:59
Pity about Trilogy closing, I didn’t find it too bad. It was light years beyond Elagante, which is the worst attempt at a club I have ever seen.
I agree with the indoor skydive suggestion. Nothing like flying around on top of a huge fan :)
Comment by DK1 — Thursday, 28 February, 2008 @ 02:02
Well it had to happen! Yet another institution has closed. They just don’t seem to be able to maintain a good thing re: clubs, bars etc. here in Dubai. They start with a great venue and it’s not long before it all goes t… up. For those of us who have been here a while we remember the good old days of the Lodge and Carters when they had big Jonathon preforming. In my opinion, the demise of Trilogy started when they moved the great DJ Charlie C from the main stage and stuck him in one of the side rooms!! Big mistake guys!! Also the unprofessional, unskilled, mismanaged and uneducated security started the ball rollin downhill. Shame on you guys in the management who let this happen!!!
Comment by Aussie Mike — Thursday, 28 February, 2008 @ 08:57
well, one way of looking at it is: for one of the best attended clubs in the city with decent line ups, the venue itself had terrible acoustics and no matter how much they spent on the sound system, it was never going to sound great.
Let’s hope wherever these nights go now they pick a decent building to put it in…
Comment by benjamin fujita-summers — Thursday, 28 February, 2008 @ 09:36
I think they should open a soulless club with really commercial Dj’s, over priced entry and drinks and then make it members only and then close it down…oh….ahem!
Come on Dubai something different, something with a bit of edge to it. How about an innovative cinema/film/art/music venue. You have a fantastic building there with great internal spaces and you wanna make a laserquest. Jeez. Use it as a place to make people think with interaction etc…
Comment by Laurie — Thursday, 28 February, 2008 @ 09:55
a year ago, trilogy was the IT place besides peppermint.. both were on the same level and the place to go on fridays night , and on tuesdays for rnb. trilogy was the best deisned club, its a shame that they are thinking of it turning it into something that is NOT a club..
i really think think it should be a club, with the same name and reputation. most of the people mention their bad experineces but never mentioned how beutiful the indoors interior design is.
it would be very disapointing if it was a restraunt. madinat is FULL of restraunts, the last thing we need is another restraunt!!
a club it is

Good riddance. Rubbish venue with boring patrons and terrible staff. I hope karma has it reopen as the seventh circle of hell.
Comment by Taylor — Friday, 29 February, 2008 @ 07:17
for those biggin up elegante whilst dissing the new(ish) management of trilogy, I am sure you will be chuffed to hear they will have a big part to play in the future of elegante.
Comment by drexil — Saturday, 1 March, 2008 @ 05:09
I second the option for a wind tunnel (indoor skydiving venue) — doubt that will happen though :-(
Otherwise laserquest/quasar arena would be very cool. Or climbing wall.
Comment by Smruti — Sunday, 2 March, 2008 @ 01:11
Why not reopen as Tiffany’s - add a few plastic palm trees and play real music instead of a repetitive thumping noise that is so load you can’t talk to anyone more than six inches away (sorry but ALL nightclubs play the same BORING rubbih that all sounds the same)
I would rather spend the night in a Filipino club, they actually hve people who can play musical instruments.

good riddance. awful club…
