On most nights a flabby Frenchman in a leotard walking around a stage on his hands would be considered something out of the ordinary.

What a way to start a year!

The fireworks over the Burj Al Arab on the stroke of New Year were absolutely stunning.

If you missed the spectacular show watch it here now.

Amazing.

A sign, hopefully, of great things ahead in the next 12 months.

It gave Time Out the feeling there will be a lot of fun to be had in the next 8784 hours.

It is a leap year so we can squeeze in an extra bit of life to 2008!

And I think we are going to need the extra time.

It’s going to be a busy year.

There will be more restaurants, more concerts, more shows, more festivals, more films and more nightlife.

More of everything, in fact, that makes living in Dubai so enjoyable.

Which is why we’ve started the Time Out Dubai blog.

We can’t fit everything into a weekly magazine anymore.

Dubai just got too big.

So the blog will be giving daily ideas and suggestions of things to do in Dubai.

Not to mention more competitions, more reviews and more contact information for the best clubs, societies, hotels and pubs.

It is one of our resolutions for the new year to keep you informed of everything that is happening in Dubai.

To get some resolution ideas of your own see our top 25 suggestions.

It’s not going to be a pretty fight - the action stars are both in their sixties - but it will be one of the main events of what is shaping up to be a bumper year at the cinema.

A very excited Time Out looks ahead to the most enticing films of 2008.
