This French film about female resistance fighters in World War II (released elsewhere internationally as Female Agents, and originally as Les Femmes de L’ombre, or ‘Women of the Shadows’), follows four French women on their mission to rescue an English geologist from Nazi-occupied France, under orders from the British Special Operations Executive. Starring some of France’s finest (including Sophie Marceau, formerly a Bond girl in The World is Not Enough, and Julie Depardieu, daughter of the sizeably-snouted Gerard), this should make a nice change from the usual Hollywood fodder.
