The latest low-budget picture in the slasher/horror mould, Stag Night tells the story of a group of male friends out on the town in New York for a bachelor party. Groom Mike takes his troublemaker brother Tony and friends Carl and Joe to a strip club, but the night takes its first turn for the worse when the quartet are booted out by the bouncers. En-route to a different venue, the group bump into a couple of strippers on the subway and somehow end up getting off at the wrong stop. Stranded in an abandoned station, with no mobile phone signal, they’re forced to defend themselves against a gang of feral characters that inhabit the subway system.

So far, so formulaic. We doubt there’ll be much here that we haven’t seen before, and the film will undoubtedly draw comparisons with Christopher Smith’s Creep, set in a spooky London Tube station. But the underground setting promises plenty of chills, not to mention enough gore and guts to keep die-hard slasher fans happy. If predictable low-budget chillers are your thing, there’ll be plenty to entertain here.
