Zuma Masquerade New Year’s Eve Ball
Why all the beautiful people at Zuma would want to cover their faces, we don’t know. Proceedings begin with a drinks and canapés reception, followed by a brunch-style dinner.

Diamonds in the Sky 2011 Where: Pullman Dubai Mall of the Emirates (04 377 2000). When: 7pm till late. How much: Dhs550 per person. The lowdown: The evening starts off with a gala buffet dinner at Pullman ’s signature restaurant, Sanabel, before heading to the rooftop party at Sanctuary Pool Bar. If you haven’t been yet, trust us, you’ll fall in love with this venue. It’s located on the hotel’s 24th floor so you’ll have sweeping views of the city (and the best vantage to catch the fireworks). You can party the night away with the sounds of their resident DJ, as well as free flowing drinks and canapés too. Plus, for 1,700 per couple, you’ll get a room for two at Pullman with breakfast thrown in.

The lowdown: Certo is going all out with a five-course menu that’s sure to satisfy. Afterwards, you can head to Dusk Terrace or Tamanya Terrace to continue the revelry.

Pierchic is your best bet for having a memorable night. We love dinners here and it’s one of the city’s most romantic restaurants, with a cooly relaxed decor and waiting staff who not only attend to, but anticipate, your every need. Right on its own pier in the middle of the sea, you’ll have views of the Burj on one side and Atlantis on the other – the perfect setting to indulge in a sumptuous five-course set menu on New Year’s Eve. There will also be live entertainment, a dessert buffet, one bottle of bubbly per couple and full open bar on selected beverages.

The lowdown: Not up to partying on a crowded dance floor in one of the city’s many clubs? If you crave something a little more private (but still loads of fun), get your friends together and have your own personal party aboard Athena Dubai. The Dubai Marina Yacht Club can charter the lovely Athena for you, provided there’s a minimum of eight guests (max. 14) for the two-hour cruise. Afterwards, you can always continue the party back at the club or head to that friend’s house party at the Marina you said you might drop in on.

We’re keen on the laid-back outdoor Garden ourselves – with live bands and big screens, what’s not to love?
