A sit-down five-course set menu, open bar, a six-piece band, two DJs and the kitchen sink were all thrown in for Karma Kafé’s new year celebrations (okay, so maybe not the kitchen sink). While dinner was a sophisticated affair, the tempo picked up as midnight drew closer. Guy Manoukian, the frontman of the aforementioned band, treated guests to a unique blend of Armenian and Arabic tunes (fitting from a man who won the Armenian music award for best dance album at the Arabia Music Awards in Dubai in 2003). Meanwhile, DJs Said and Ralph K spun an eclectic mix of tunes into 2011. Karma Kafé also gave away a night’s stay at Bab Al Shams Desert Resort and a Maserati to test drive for the weekend. If only it could be New Year’s Eve every night.
