Massive Filipino concert rocks the Dubai World Trade Centre
Time Out Dubai staff
This Filipino concert saw three leading bands and three solo artists come to Dubai, with organisers expecting a crowd of around 15,000 people in the mammoth WTC venue. Yet it looked as though only 2,000 or so revellers turned up. We’re not sure what went wrong – we’d have expected big crowds for performances from stellar bands like Cueshe, who motivated the audience to get moving while belting out hits including ‘Stay’, ‘Sorry’, ‘Ulan’ and ‘Can’t Let You Go’. The other stand-out performance was from ‘mimic’ singer Frenchie Dy, who performed songs by Whitney Houston, Celine Dion and Sharon Cuneta, and really did sound like them. Well, she actually sounded better than Whitney does these days –blame it on Bobby.
