The sights from the Colombian songstress's Yas Arena gig
Time Out Abu Dhabi staff
Shakira's 2009 New Year's gig in Abu Dhabi clearly left her fans wanting more, as they flocked in their thousands to see her second show in the city.
This Friday's gig at Yas Arena was a sell out, with 15,000 fans snapping up tickets to see the Latina beauty, and if they were hoping for a hit-laden set they weren't disappointed. She ran through all of her classic numbers, such as 'Hips Don't Lie', 'Whenever, Whenever' and 'She Wolf' as well as songs from her latest album The Sun Comes Out. Perhaps the biggest cheer of the night went out when she played last year's worldwide chart-topper, 'Waka Waka', which was the official 2010 FIFA World Cup anthem.
However, lovers of Arabic music will tell you that a vast chunk of the crowd were there to see Egyptian pop sensation Amr Diab, who was also on the bill for the night. Amr took to the stage before Shakira, hitting the crown with some of his legendary tunes, such as 'Nur Al Ayn' and 'Habibi'.

The concert was excellent! I loved Amr Diab and Shakira's performances. The fan pit was awesome and it is exactly how we do things back in Australia. Standing up and dancing is much more fun than sitting in rows of chairs. The people who are complaining about the concert need to lighten up and learn to enjoy the show.

Shame on you flash for such a bad organising........you should have gained enough experience by now!!!! VIP FAN PIT!! R U KIDDING ME, u jammed people on top of each others, like sardines.... not to mention performers both a huge disappoint, Amr with songs from last decade, and silly and time wasting video before his appearance, and Shakira's Lip Sync and non ending Spanish songs, couldn't someone tell her this is English speaking community?!!! MONEY WASTE, if this is what we were looking for we'll set home and watch her video clips!! THINK AGAIN FLASH BEFORE YOUR NEXT CONCERT PLS......... OR LEAVE IT TO PROFESSIONALS.

Shakira did not disappoint....the organization did. This is the reason they have done away with standing room type arrangements for many developed countries....its dangerous. You get there early to get a not bad place, latecomers come and step over top of you and push forward. To preserve your finger you need to stand from 715 to 8 for Amr....then through his performance, then wait for them to change the stage, then Shakira an hour later....she was very good, but the standing did me in. The flipping of hair from the girl in front of me, the fights between people......one was a mom who shove her kids in way from the back and then got mad at a guy at the fence because he was moving too much to suit her....totally awful. He leaves and three teens literally push themselves forward stepping on people to get closer. In between smoking and people drinking that were totally soused... I say toss festival seating and get some contorl....it wasn't Shakira's fault..the organization was hideous.
