Get your costume and head to one of Dubai's scary parties
One for this Friday 28… Monster Halloween Costume Party: With Dhs25,000 in prize money for the best costumes (Dhs7,500 each to the best man and woman and Dhs10,000 to the best group), this beach party is likely to be Dubai’s most epic fright fest. Entertainment will come from Tim Cheddar and the crew as well as stilt-walkers (of which we have an irrational fear), fire-breathers and a horror show at midnight. Dhs100, free for ladies and Dhs50 for men before 8pm. Doors open 5pm. Nasimi Beach, Atlantis, Palm Jumeirah (04 426 2626).
And on the Monday night itself… Halloween Thriller party: Many of you may believe Rock Bottom Café to be a scary place already, so this night might have you ducking for cover. Expect live music from Cache Superstar, and commercial hits (no doubt a particular Michael Jackson song) from the resident DJ. There will be prizes for best dressed, 35 per cent off drinks for Face card holders and a zombie mixed drink for Dhs50. Free. 10pm-3am. Monday October 31. Rock Bottom Café, Ramee Rose Hotel, TECOM (04 450 0111). Alternatively, try the Rocky Horror Halloween at Rock Bottom Café at the other end of town. Free. 10pm-3am. Monday October 31. Regent Palace Hotel, Bur Dubai (04 396 3888).
Nelson’s Nightmare: Kicking off with a themed spooky quiz at 8pm with resident quizmaster Phil Richardson, English pub Nelson’s will then invite guests onto the dancefloor to show off their creepiest moves to music from DJ Rob Edge, who hits the decks from 10pm. There will also be five test tube short drinks for Dhs50, while you can go double on selected house drinks for the price of a single – and guests can also expect ‘prizes and surprises’. Ooh – the mind boggles. Free. From 8pm, Monday October 31. Nelson’s, Media Rotana, TECOM (04 345 0201).
No.1 Urban Halloween: In a bid to create ‘possibly the scariest night in town’ the No.1 team have enlisted the help of ‘professional horror experts’ to help decorate the club. Expect R&B, hip hop and house from DJs Shero and Stylez, best costume prizes and two-for-one deals on selected drinks. Dhs100, free for ladies and Face card holders all night. 10pm-3am, Monday October 31. Club Sensation, Crowne Plaza Dubai, Sheikh Zayed Road (056 604 0479).
The Irish Village’s party: The Irish Village keeps things simple this year with music from DJ Marky Mark and prizes for both men and women who arrive in the best fancy dress. There have also been rumours of a few traditional Halloween games, so start practising your apple bobbing skills. Free. From 8pm, Monday October 31. The Irish Village, Garhoud (04 282 4750).
