Dubai through a lens1 Comments 21 February 2012
One only has to flick through the world’s top travel magazines to see that Dubai is a rising star on the globe’s red carpet. With a handful of iconic landmarks and a cityscape that boasts the world’s tallest building, as well as the natural beauty of the sand and sea, Dubai is a photographer’s dream. The city’s skyline was voted seventh best in the world last month, ahead of Shanghai and Tokyo, according to respected industry consultant Emporis. From Monday March 5 to Saturday March 10, photography fair Gulf Photo Plus will give the snap-happy an opportunity to celebrate all things photo-related, with workshops, exhibitions and the opportunity to meet acclaimed visiting international and local photographers. But first, we reveal our favourite shots of Dubai (and one very cool shot in Umm Al Quwain!) as you’ve never seen it before.
March 5-10, timings vary. Course prices Dhs50-Dhs5,000. Knowledge Village, www.gulfphotoplus.com/gpp/2012 (04 380 8545).
‘I’ve been waiting to take this type of shot for more than three years. Last October things finally came together: location and good fog! The image was taken from the roof of a building on Sheikh Zayed Road. I knew I had a cool shot when I saw this big cloud splitting the image in two.’
Camera: Nikon D300.
