Nestled among the soaring towers of the Marina, the comparatively smaller Dubai Marina Mall is a sleek, compact hub for some on-the-go shopping. Having recently welcomed newcomers including lifestyle boutique Smitten and Aussie chain fave Seduce (as well as an eye-boggling amount of not-so-appealing glitterati Italian fashion), there are plenty of reasons to make your way down there (and sequin platform sneakers is not one of them). Here, we bring you the best of the mall’s brands, celebrating the lesser-known stores and kiosks, plus new arrivals.
Naracamicie USP: This Italian store specialises in high quality dress shirts for both men and women. While some of the range is a little off-putting, there are a number of basics that are sure to catch your eye. Why go? Ladies will love the work-appropriate dress-length wrap shirts, and gents should head straight here for special occasion collared shirts with quirky detailing. Where? Naracamicie, ground floor, Dubai Marina Mall (04 434 2516).
Seduce USP: This popular Aussie chain store specialises in evening wear such as hot little cocktail dresses and blazers. The best bit? Seeing as we’re not in Australia, you won’t see everyone else wearing them. Why go? Prices are a little bit higher than your average high street store, but you’ll appreciate the craftsmanship, quality and the huge selection of ultra- modern styles. Where? Seduce, level one, Dubai Marina Mall (04 399 7730).
Smitten USP: This lifestyle boutique not only sells hard-to-find brands such as Romeo & Juliet, it also stocks cute kids clothes from Kidology, and Seraphine maternity wear you’ll want to be seen in. Why go? If you’re not expecting, there are still plenty of reasons to sift through the racks – we love the embellished leggings and quirky tops. Stylish mums-to-be will love the stretch-band denim shorts for the hot months. Where? Smitten, first floor, Dubai Marina Mall (04 451 9779).
Eye Q Optical Trading USP: This unassuming lower-level kiosk is your go-to for affordable sunglasses in the latest styles. It mostly stocks the Polaroid brand. Why go? To stock up on geek-chic unisex specs with coloured arms, new takes on the popular aviator and the unique ladies’ shades with fern-leaf detailing. Where? Eye Q Optical Trading, parking level, Dubai Marina Mall (055 127 7807).

Superdry USP: This Japanese-feel brand actually hails from the UK, and is your go-to for Superdry branded shirts, jeans, sneakers and affordable basics for him and her. Why go? Gents will love the Converse-style trainers and workmen’s boots, while girls can pick up singlet dresses and hoodies. There are also kitsch school-girl skirts and out-there jumpsuits that we’re not sure would look good anywhere but Harajuku. Where? Superdry, second level, Dubai Marina Mall (04 451 5166).
