Top 10 budget restaurants

Calicut Paragon: Be prepared to get really stuck into this budget gem in Karama. Diners prefer to use their hands (there is cutlery, though) to tear pieces of steaming parathas and dip them into a variety of curries and broths, chewing furiously in satisfaction. Trust us, you will too. The menu, which delves into the best of south India, can be daunting for newbies but ask for recommendations and you’ll be golden. There’s the option of ordering ‘half portions’ so be adventurous and try something new. Most dishes tend to make the most of coconut and flavourful spices and standouts include the sweet and spicy prawn mango curry and tangy chicken varatiya. Paragon offers something entirely different from the cookie-cutter north Indian and British Indian restaurants New Dubaians are used to... and we like it.
Opposite Lulu Centre, Karama (04 335 8700).

Try Thai Wok in Al-Barsha. They do authentic Thai Food. I like to have Stir Fried Chicken with Cashewnuts, Tom Yum soup and prawn purse in appetizer. It is a small informal place. They are also good at delivery. Good value for money. -

I have been eating at Betawi since they opened this branch a few years ago and have always been going back for more. At times I get stuck on my favourite dish and then discover that the other dishes are also amazing... I can't wait until they open their express branch in Emirates Towers Metro station....Keep up the good work.
