Deepak’s This textile store was founded in 1977, and there are now many locations around Dubai. The Satwa store is close to our hearts – and close to many tailors. The range of silks is mouthwatering. Open Sat-Thu 9am-10.30pm; Fri 4.30pm-10.30pm. Satwa Road, opposite Emirates Bank (04 344 3536).
Dreamgirls This tailor is so good, one of the Style team got her wedding dress made here (and for less than Dhs1,500). Ishwal There’s just about room to swing a couple of sewing machines (carefully) in this tailors, plus a makeshift changing room, some mammoth design catalogues and lots of clothes, all peeping out of random carrier bags. But there’s a reason Deepak’s fabric store and probably your well-dressed mates recommend Ishwal. Open Sat-Thu 9am-1pm, 4pm-10pm; Fri 4pm-10pm. First alleyway right after Deepak’s (04 349 2434).
Leonard Logsdail This specialist tailor set up shop in Al Quoz in April 2009. I was very disappointed in Dream Girls. They discovered at the last minute, oh, the dress doesn't hang right because we should have cut it on the bias and we cut it straight. At that point I'd been in five times and was literally on my way to the airport, so there wasn't time to get more fabric and fix it. The pieces weren't done well, as I asked, or on time with the deadlines they agreed to.

Dream Girl Tailors have let me down quite a few times. Their service never lived up to my basic expectations be it for traditional (Indian) or casual wear.
