The Lowdown
MusicHall grand opening
When: Thursday January 24-Friday January 25
Where: MusicHall, Jumeirah Zabeel Saray, Palm Jumeirah

It’s been the new venue on the city’s lips for months – and then, in a blur of red carpets and cameras flashes, Dubai’s MusicHall arrived. It was a double celebration, encompassing both the ten-year anniversary of its Beirut base, and the opening of a second venue at tip of the Palm, at the Jumeirah Zabeel Saray. Well-known founder Michel Elefteriades hosted the invite-only opening on Thursday (opening with a series of video messages from famed friends about his work for the arts), which starred an eclectic array of musicians, kicking off with a soulful cover of Otis Redding's Dock of the Bay; moving on to traditional Greek, Arabic and even Eastern European numbers. The venue was declared officially open for public business a day later - we’re looking forward to many more nights of maniacal musical fusion.
