Copyright British house duo Sam Holt and Gavin Mill brought the beats to the beach with this December gig at Bliss. Bliss on Copyright, Bliss Lounge, Sheraton Jumeirah Beach Resort (December 5 2013).
David Guetta Say what you want, he’s the biggest DJ in the world, responsible for more radio hits than we can count. Which meant the atmosphere at this beach bash was phenomenal. Live @ Atlantis, Atlantis The Palm (May 3 2013).
DJ Yoda Renowned mash-up king DJ Yoda – he’ll throw anything at a dancefloor given half a chance – found the perfect home for his eclectic approach at edgy car park party Younique. Hosted by Younique, Think @ Media One Hotel (April 19 2013).
Jazzy Jeff This gig will go down in Dubai memory for one major reason – the surprise appearance of former sparring partner Will Smith a little after midnight. But even without that Jazzy’s fun-filled, anything goes party set would have been one to remember. Barasti New Year's Eve Sugar Beach Party (December 31 2013).
Kenny Dope One half of Masters at Work, Kenny Dope really shouldn’t need any introduction. Maybe it was the rooftop venue, or perhaps the relaxed crowd, but this intimate set saw the house beat freak veering down all manner of musical avenues to great effect. Hosted by Dust and Red Bull @ Tamanya Terrace (September 27 2013).
Plus Minus Sessions Tech-house stalwart is the kind of DJ who makes other DJs weep with his trailblazing repertoire of technical wizardry – and this beachside set on the Palm was no exception. Hosted by Loud In Promotions and Blitz Productions @ Nasimi Beach (October 4 2013).
Roni Size Shortly after celebrating their tenth birthday in style bassheads’ haven GlobalFunk pulled in a biggie here, with drum ’n’ bass forefather Roni Size delivering a blistering set of beats new and old at the ever reliable Music Room. Hosted by Global Funk @ The Music Room (September 19 2013).
Tiesto You don’t need to be a musical connoisseur to know that Tiësto is, well, massive – indeed, he was the world’s richest DJ at last count. So there was a certain sense of occasion when renowned Indian festival brand Sunburn debuted in Dubai with this huuuge booking. Hosted by Peppermint Experience’s Sunburn Dubai @ DWTC (March 28 2013).
Will.i.am In town for Dubai Music Week, Will.i.am first gave an insightful talk into the art of production, before playing The Voice host by rating the UAE’s talents live. However it was the storming DJ set he gave which formed the highlight of the week for the masses. Hosted by Dubai Music Week @ Dubai Music Week (September 26 2013).
