Hot new restaurants and concepts for the new season
Asia Asia Just opened one week ago for diners, (but waiting to gain its drink licence in September), is the latest addition to Pier 7, Asia Asia. This fusion restaurant and lounge has some rather eclectic-sounding recipes for you to try, including lamb kofta sui mai and Malaysian sambal tagine. Pier 7, Dubai Marina (no number).
SCAFA Petite JLT-based cooking school SCAFA has now expanded, with the opening of a new concept due (at the time of writing) to launch this week. SCAFA Petite, in collaboration with, and located inside the new Carrefour in Jumeirah, is described by SCAFA’S father-daughter team as ‘cooking classes going retail’. Siam Thai Restaurant While the Asiana Hotel’s seafood concept Sea World closes, it makes way for this brand new Thai eatery. Due to launch this week (currently anticipated on September 1), Siam Thai Restaurant will still offer some of the seafood dishes from Sea World, but with a broader Thai style of cooking available. Nofara Café This homegrown modern Arabic café has quite a lot of new tricks to share this season. During the first week of September, the café is launching a new menu, featuring a selection of paleo and gluten-free recipes. There is also a brand new branch of the café opening in BaySquare (Downtown Dubai) at the end of September. What’s more, there are even whispers of a brand new Nofara food truck coming soon to Dubai. www.nofaracafe.com.
Taste Kitchen The new project from Dubai chef duo Nick Alvis and Scott Price is a gourmet café, which the pair have devised and consulted on for Spinneys. Aimed at creating a home-grown brand, the first branch is currently due to open within the first two weeks of September, located inside Mercato Mall. Mercato Mall, Jumeirah Beach Road (no number).
Omnia by Silvena Following the recent success of Omnia Gourmet, chef Silvena Rowe has more up her sleeve for the coming quarter. First up and due to launch at the end of September is her flagship restaurant Omnia by Silvena, located on Sheikh Mohamed Bin Rashid Boulevard. Also, anticipated to launch after Eid al-Adha (in October) will be the brand new Omnia farmers’ market, focusing on local and organic fresh produce, and located outside Omnia Gourmet in Jumeirah Fishing Harbour. Atisuto Opening in the brand new Galleria Mall on Al Wasl Road is Atisuto Japanese restaurant. Currently anticipated to open in September, the new restaurant will aim to mirror a Japanese back-alley eatery vibe Galleria Mall, Al Wasl Road (no number).
Frioul Bistro de Luxe Coming soon to Souk Madinat Jumeirah is a brand new and homegrown concept, Frioul Bistro de Luxe. Inspired by the Frioul islands off the coast of Marseilles, France, this restaurant and lounge promises a southern French vibe. Jumeirah Zabeel Saray It’s all go within the coming quarter at this luxury property on the Palm Jumeirah. Opening in October is a brand new branch of Dubai’s best steakhouse The Rib Room. The hotel is anticipating three new chef de cuisines to join the hotel team during the quarter, as well as a special guest chef coming to Indian restaurant Amala from Wednesday November 12 to Wednedday 19. talian World Cuisine Summit The Italian World Cuisine Summit hits Dubai again for the second year running, from Friday November 7 to Thursday 20. The event welcomes a constellation-worth of Michelin-awarded chefs visiting Dubai’s Italian restaurants, with promotional menus available during the period at each participating venue. Clé Coming soon to Dubai is the region’s first restaurant by celebrity chef Greg Malouf. The Australian-Lebanese chef is credited as one of the pioneers of modernised Middle Eastern cooking and has a number of cookbooks under his belt.
