Creatures Oasis Specialising in marine animals, reptiles and accessories, this pet store offers a range of tanks along with the option to have one custom made. The store also sells cats, dogs, birds and rabbits, among others, plus garden plants. Jumeirah Beach Road (04 342 0555).

Mercato Mall A Renaissance-themed shopping mall with a cinema and a good mix of boutique, luxury and high street stores, Mercato’s offering seems to constantly be changing. Right now, the mall is also home to kiosks selling homewares by Urban Yogi and a huge range of colourful cotton foot apparel by Happy Socks. The Village Mall There’s much to find in this surprisingly well-stocked shopping spot, from clothing boutiques such as S*uce and Candella to jewellery stores, an Organic Foods and Café supermarket and health supplements boutique, kids’ attire and now delicious Swiss chocolate following the launch of Sprungli Boutique & Café at the complex. The Zoo Concept Located opposite the actual Dubai Zoo, this quirky boutique sells cutting-edge urban street wear, accessories and homewares, plus unique, one-off designer pieces. Jumeirah 2 Beach Park Plaza Directly opposite Jumeirah Beach Park, this large mall-type complex is less about shopping and more about eating and pampering. It’s home to a series of health, grooming and wellbeing outlets including Beats and Cuts barbershop, renowned women’s hairdressing spot Salon Ink, Thai Elite Spa and MegaSun Lounge. There are also a handful of dining options including Arabic restaurant Burj Al Hamam, Circle Café (currently under renovation) and anime-themed Manga Sushi. Jumeirah 3 Sunset Mall Head to this swanky, glass-clad mall next to the beach for cutting-edge fashion buys and unique pieces from the likes of West LA Boutique, Socialista Boutique and Valleydez, plus much more. Jumeirah Beach Road (04 330 7333).
D.Tales A design orientated store with a Scandinavian leaning, selling homeware accessories such as lighting and storage, rugs, and furniture, plus funky watches, cufflinks, bags and more. Jumeirah Beach Road (04 338 6395).
