20 places in Dubai to watch the Mayweather vs McGregor fight
Floyd Mayweather takes on Conor McGregor in the richest boxing match in history on Saturday August 26, or the morning of Sunday August 27 in Dubai. Want to know where you can watch the fight in Dubai? We’ve found 11 restaurants and bars showing the match.
Undefeated Floyd “Money” Mayweather has suspended his retirement in a bid to reach a career 50-0 (50 wins and no defeats). Standing in his way is legend of UFC and mixed martial arts Conor McGregor, with the Irishman making his professional boxing debut against one of boxing’s most successful ever competitors.
The match is being described as the fight of the century, and the numbers behind the bout are startling. Mayweather is due for a nine-figure pay out from the fight in Las Vegas, and early estimates put his purse at US$100 million (Dhs367 million) – a figure which could rise four-fold to US$400 million (Dhs1.47 billion) if the event hits all of its monetary targets.
McGregor, meanwhile, is expected to purse a minimum of US$75 million (Dhs275.5 million), which is believed to be five times more than any pay out the Irishman has ever had from a single UFC event.
All of these figures are estimates, since confidentiality agreements are in place that protect each party from disclosing the final figures. While base line figures are being revealed the night before the fight, due to local laws, the numbers involved could grow exponentially, and we know either way that eye-watering amounts of money are up for grabs.
