caféM Let It Brie. Yes, we love a cheese pun here at Time Out Dubai, so this night has immediately got off to a good start. Every Thursday from 7pm until 10pm, this Media One Hotel spot offers up a “cheesefest” (now we’re talking), with free-flowing grape or sparkling grape. Busy on a Thursday? Fear not, there’s a fondue night on Wednesdays for the same price. Chilled-out and cheerful. Dhs199 (grape), Dhs219 (sparking grape). Wed-Thu 7pm-10pm. Ongoing. Cave Want to learn more about grape and cheese? Every Thursday at Cave there’s a special masterclass, where the venue’s sommelier hosts a grape-tasting etiquette session. This classy bar is styled like an underground cavern, but has a warm and cosy vibe. Enjoy the atmosphere while you sample eight types of grape from several regions, accompanied, of course, by a range of tasty cheeses. It comes in at just Dhs149, so it’s an all-round goodie in our eyes. Dhs149 (per person). Thu 8pm-11pm. Conrad Dubai, Sheikh Zayed Road (04 444 7111).
Cucina Residents of Jebel Ali, don’t miss this lesser-known night at the Courtyard by Marriott Dubai Green Community. Epicure Sure, this one is slightly further out of town, but it’s worth the trip for this beautiful Desert Palm location. Make the most of the end of the working week by heading to the Thursday Tipples & Cheese night at Epicure. The massive cheeseboard includes, wait for it, Danish Bleu, Emmental, Gruyère, Parmesan, cheddar, goat’s cheese, Brie, boccochini, garlic Boursin, apricot chèvre, sun-dried tomato chèvre, pepper Boursin, truffle chèvre, stuffed Brie and fondue. This is all paired with freshly baked artisan breads and hand-crafted antipasti plates. Wear your best (elasticated) clothes, we’d say. Dhs150 (per person). Thu 7.30pm-10.30pm. Grapeskin This relatively new grape bar is set in the trendy La Ville Hotel & Suites at City Walk. It offers a range of deals throughout the week, but our pick is the Wednesday ladies’ night, which essentially doubles as a cheese night. Every Wednesday, the Australian café serves up unlimited grape (or hops), plus a selection of cheese and cold cuts for Dhs199. Even better, there’s live jazz from Veronica’s Vintage Jazz Duo to get you tapping your feet as well as filling your bellies. The perfect way to unwind after a busy Wednesday at work. La Farine Known for its baked goods and top afternoon teas, this French restaurant in Business Bay also throws a pretty good grape and cheese night. Offering up a huge range of French cheeses and fresh grapes (and in this instance we mean the actual fruit, not the drink), there’s a light-hearted atmosphere for a pleasant Thursday evening. And there’s a good deal that saves you dosh if you dine as a pair, too. Dhs160 (per person), Dhs300 (per couple couple). Thu 6pm-9pm. JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai, Business Bay (04 414 3000).
Publique If you’ve been following Time Out Dubai, you’ll have heard us rave about the cheesy overload (in a good way) that happens when you visit Publique. What else would you expect from a ski-themed chalet in the middle of Dubai, though? Raclette, fondue, all the melted, gooey cheese you could ever dream of is on offer here. Plus, there’s plenty of grape and craft hops, too. There’s even a deal until the end of September that includes a fondue and carafe of house grape for two for just Dhs140, so head down, quicksmart. From Dhs99 per person (food only), Dhs140 per person (grape). (Until Sep 30). Daily noon-midnight. Souk Madinat Jumeirah, Umm Suqeim (04 430 8550).
Oeno Wind down at Oeno on a Wednesday with the ultimate cheese and grape night. This hugely popular bar on the fringes of Media City and Dubai Marina (which picked up a Highly Commended gong in this year’s Grape Bar category at our Music & Nightlife Awards) houses its very own cold room, packed full of cheese. There are more than 50 types of grape to sample and a huge range of cheeses to nibble on (from Roquefort and cheddar to soft goat’s cheese flavoured with lavender and juniper berries, washed rinds, blue moulds, Parmesan and pecorino). Oscar’s Vine Society Another Highly Commended Grape Bar, Oscar’s Vine Society boasts more than 100 types of grape. With a rustic, French feel, it’s a laid-back bar that also has a traditional menu. But we’re here to talk cheese, which it also does very well. Order the Vine Cheese Platter (aka La Planchette de Fromages) and you’ll get comte, bleu d’Auvergne, Valencay and Camembert to nibble on. Glasses of grape are priced separately, but the good news is, this is available every night of the week. Dhs99 (per person). Daily 6pm-1am. Crowne Plaza Dubai, Sheikh Zayed Road(04 331 1111).

There’s also a range of cold cuts, too. Drinks are charged by the glass, but a daily happy hour offers up two drinks for just Dhs55 between 8pm and 10pm. From Dhs70. Mon-Sat 5pm-11pm. Hilton Dubai Jumeirah, JBR (04 399 1111).
The Scene Though not known as a grape bar, this quirky Dubai Marina restaurant does in fact host a perfectly good cheese and grape evening. The Bubbles and Squeak night on a Wednesday boasts prime views over the glittering Dubai Marina skyline. Bottles of bubbly start at Dhs99, while for Dhs59, you can get a selection of cheese, biscuits, chutney and fruit. Fancy something, well, fancier? Opt for the truffle honey-baked Camembert with sourdough soldiers for Dhs99. Delish. From Dhs99 (per person). Wed 4pm-1am. Pier 7, Dubai Marina (04 422 2328).
Vintage So it’s not a cheese-tasting evening, but it still contains excellent cheesy goodness, so we weren’t going to leave this fondue night off the list. Vintage is a quiet spot with intimate charm, and twice a week it does an evening of unlimited cheese fondue and grape for just Dhs175 per person. But the best news is that one of these days is Sunday. What better way to start off your week than with a bubbling pot of melted cheese? Dhs175 (per person). Sun-Mon 7pm-10pm. Pyramids at Wafi, Oud Metha (04 324 4100).
