The city's best places to enjoy the huge German festival in 2017
Oktoberfest is coming to Dubai, and that means the most exuberant, fun-loving and musical German hops festival is nearly here.
Bars up and down the city are donning their lederhosen, polishing the steins, preparing some pretzels and cooking up some currywurst. This year is going to be big, and here are eight places where you can get into the festive German spirit for one of the most celebrated months of the year.
Brothaus Bakery - Bistro Welcome to Brotfest, with Brothaus celebrating Oktoberfest with a month-long celebration deserving of its name. There’ll be schnitzel, bratwurst and lebkuchen (German gingerbread) and packages of hops, plus take part in stein-holding competitions, eating contests and more. There’s also the brand-new Brothaus Biergarten terrace to enjoy too. Weekend brunch on Friday and Saturday will also carry the theme between noon and 4pm, with packages starting from Dhs195 for soft drinks, Dhs350 for the hops package and Dhs400 for a package including the German herb beverage. Girders This JBR bar is running the Oktoberfest-themed brunch (the Girders Garden Fest) on Friday October 13 and 20 to mark the occasion. Expect a four-hour brunch from noon-4pm, featuring German delights like bratwurst, plus a huge amount of German hops. There’s also going to be some traditional entertainment and fun games. Grand Hyatt Dubai Now this is a big one. A dedicated Oktoberfest hops tent, lederhosen, pretzels and a whole bunch of German hops. German band Die Kirchdorfer have been flown in all the way from Munich too, to give you a real Bavarian vibe. Open between Wednesday October 11 and Saturday 28, get your hands on a buffet on opening night for Dhs195 (soft drinks), with hops charged separately. JB’s This gastropub at the Amwaj Rotana Dubai will be celebrating Munich’s most famous festival until the 20th October, featuring authentic German food and beverages. Expect litres of German hops, plus classic snacks including sausage, slow-smoked roast chicken, pretzels and more. Loca Turn Oktoberfest into something with a bit of Latin flair at Loca, where you can get 20 percent of all bottled hops until the end of the month. It’s not your traditional Oktoberfest affair, but it’s bound to be just as lively as the original. Daily noon-2am. Hofbräuhaus Have some authentic German fun at this little piece of Germany right here in Dubai. For the last 20 years this hotspot has been celebrating Oktoberfest in style, so head over for some classic dishes, pints of German hops and live traditional music courtesy of a live band flown in from Germany especially. The festivities will run from Thursday September 28 until Saturday October 28. From Saturday until Wednesday enjoy an à la carte menu, while on Thursdays and Fridays enjoy a special Oktoberfest buffet at Hofbräuhaus, which costs Dhs120 for food only and Dhs180 for a buffet plus a pitcher of hops.
