It’s finally happened – Dubai Marina now has the city’s first standalone Marks & Spencer food store, and it’s packed with fresh refrigerated and baked goods, plus aisle upon aisle of biscuits, tea, pasta, sauces and so much more. Prawn Mayonnaise sandwich Sandwiches – YES, SANDWICHES – have arrived at Marks & Spencer in Dubai Marina. If you don’t know how much of a big deal this is, you haven’t been listening to your British friends hard enough. Dhs25.
Smoked Salmon & Broccoli Quiche A friend of picnics and baby showers, and a table companion to many a sausage roll. Go fancy with smoked salmon. Dhs33.
Cheese & Onion Lattice Pie Greggs may still be yet to arrive in Dubai (and it’s looking unlikely), in the meantime be comforted by the pastry-encased goodness of this classic British combination. Dhs23.
Super Rice & Quinoa Among Marks & Spencer’s wide variety of easy-cook fresh products is this healthy side, which promises to cook in just two minutes. The bag is microwavable and packed with brown rice, quinoa, red and yellow peppers, black rice and wild rice, all in a sunflower oil and lemon juice dressing. Dhs20.
Sweet Potato Onion Bhajis We’ve spent many childhood New Year’s Eves snacking on oven onion bhajis back in Blighty – these should be your TV snack of choice (though if you’re still doing it on NYE, you may need to consider getting out more). Dhs25.
Mediterranean Vegetable Tortilla A protein-packed lunch on the go, just grab a fork and get stuck into this Spanish-inspired combination of free range egg omelette with potato, roasted peppers and mozzarella cheese. Luxury Hot Cross Buns Who needs Easter weekend to enjoy these buttery, fruity, spicy, toastable treats? One’a’dirham, two’a’dirham hot cross buns (NB. They cost more than one dirham.)
Teatime Biscuit Selection If there was ever a literal boxful of joy, this is it. Tuck in to the M&S version of Jammy Dodgers, Party Rings, Viennese Fingers and chunky choc chip cookies. Teatime perfection. Dhs21.
