Your ultimate guide to restaurants at Dubai's The Beach
Checks out the top eateries at New Dubai’s thriving seaside hub, The Beach
From burgers to ice cream, any kind of fast food you want you’ll find at The Beach. The family-friendly area is great for the kids, but it’s equally fun on date night or if you’re just after a quick bite to eat. There are so many restaurants we can’t list them all – but we’ll show you around some of our faves. Swipe through the gallery above.
Aprons & Hammers This is a simpler version of the restaurant – the original branch is on a dhow at Dubai International Marine Club, and a third has just opened at La Mer. Dig into one of its buckets of fresh crab (a speciality – the clue’s in the name, afterall). If you’re a seafood fan, stick it on your list. Open Fri-Sat 12.30pm-1am; Sun-Thu 12.30pm-2am. 04 456 7888).
Bianca Mozzarella With mozzarella in the restaurant’s title, it’s safe to say that the standout ingredient is, of course, the creamy Italian cheese. The chef here uses it in plenty of ways – caprese, burrata etc. – although, we suggest you try the fried version. We love the white and blue décor, cute sofas and outdoor seating, too. It’s not set right on the beachfront, but it’s one of the best eateries in the area, so don’t miss it. Open daily noon-2am (04 554 9459).
Bombay Bungalow Formerly House of Curry, this Indian restaurant was rebranded earlier in 2017 in both décor and menu. Dishes range from standard to unique (burrata butter chicken, anyone?), and the interiors are fresh and funky. It’s also one of the first you come to on the stretch from the cinema, so if you’re not wanting to walk too far this is a solid option. Open daily noon-midnight. (800 692 8779).
Bouchon Bakery The first UAE outpost from seven Michelin-starred US chef Thomas Keller, this relative newcomer set up camp in the area this summer. Best known for its breakfasts (we’ve waxed lyrical about its avo toast before), its baked goods are especially excellent. Open Sun-Thu 8am-11pm; Fri-Sat 8am-midnight (04 419 0772).
Catch 22 This one is always packed. It has industrial-style interiors, eye-catching lights and a fun vibe. The food’s not the best you’ll find, but if you’re after something fried (mac ’n’ cheese burger et al) then you’ll get it here. Open daily noon-midnight. (04 424 3057).
Busaba Eathai Simple Thai food. The pad Thai is top, as is the green Thai curry. If you’re not adventurous with your Thai cuisine then this is a safe and tasty option. Ope Sat-Wed noon-11pm; Thu-Fri 11am-midnight (04 428 1421).
Eat Greek For good Greek food, it’s worth a visit to this chain. It’s not cheap though, so make sure your wallet’s ready if you plan to order a selection of mezze – it can easy rack up. Open Sun-Thu 8.30am-midnight; Fri-Sat 8.30am-1am (04 430 5249).
Eggspectation You’ll know this one from the queues snaking round the block on a Friday morning. Breakfasts are what this Canadian chain is famous for, and if you haven’t visited yet, you should. Stacks of pancakes as big as your head are a novel way to start the day, or opt for one of the plethora of Benedict dishes. An eggscellent (sorry, not sorry), weekend pitstop. Open daily 7am-midnight (04 430 7252).
Ladurée Macaron are what this place is all about. The world-famous mint-green décor houses a multitude of brightly coloured macron in every imaginable flavour. Open daily 9am-midnight (04 551 5797).
Leopold’s of London Famous for its coffees, Leopold’s of London is almost on a par with Eggspectation when it comes to popularity at breakfast time. However, at other times of day the mac ’n’ cheese is smooth, rich and totally delish. Open Sun-Wed 8am-1am; Thu-Sat 8am-2am (04 430 6841).
Operation Falafel Pretty much what it says on the proverbial tin. Falafel. If you fancy the chickpea-based snack, here’s where to go. It’s always popular, which is why it's open 24 hours a day. Open daily 24 hours. (04 424 3098).
P.F. Chang’s The world-famous American-style Chinese chain has a rather grand location on The Beach. Dishes are huge (you’ll have enough for tomorrow’s lunch for sure) and they’re tasty enough. It’s on the pricey side, but that’s to be expected. Open Sun-Wed 11am-1am; Thu-Sat 11am-2am (04 419 0671).
Poco Loco A tasty, friendly Latino eatery, where you should definitely order the tacos. Latin American music plays in the background and the atmosphere is fun and friendly. Open Sun-Thu 11am-midnight; Fri-Sat 11am-1am (04 456 2081).
Pots, Pans & Boards This casual family-friendly eatery comes from Michelin-starred British chef Tom Aikens. Especially popular for breakfasts, its lunches and dinners are great too (don't miss the polenta chips). Fret not, not everything is served on a board. Open Sun-Wed 9am-midnight; Thu-Sat 9am-1am (055 334 6829).
Retro Feasts This British joint from young British chef Luke Thomas is sadly often overlooked, as it’s set pretty much on the sand with a less-than-obvious entrance. However, the dishes are simple and delious so it’s worth taking note next time you wander past. Open daily 8am-midnight (052 722 6462).
Seven Sands At Seven Sands you can feast on local food while gazing out to sea. The menu is full of Emirati classics, and when it comes to the starters, you can’t go wrong with the substantial cold mezze selection. Open Sun-Wed noon-1am; Fri-Sat 9am-2am (04 551 6652).
Shake Shack Best known for its signature burgers and frozen custards, it’s most likely you’ve already visited this well-known burger joint. Fast food, but good food. It’s not going to blow you away, but if you’re after something filling and tasty, pop it on your list. Open daily 11am-2am (04 419 0435).
Sushi Art Suprisingly, Sushi Art is the only sushi eatery at The Beach. It’s tucked away, but has a good outdoor area and an extensive menu. Order up the sushi platter for two and you’ve got a great date night, all at under Dhs200. Open Sun-Thu 11am-midnight; Fri-Sat 11am-1am (800 220).
Urban Seafood If you’re after fish and chips or lobster rolls, this should be your go-to destination. It’s cheap, it’s cheerful and we love the swinging seats inside, making it one of the few places here where it’s actually better inside than out. Open Sun-Wed 11am-midnight; Thu-Sat 11am-1am (800 7527).
