The BPM Festival at BASE Dubai The BPM Festival is set to make its Middle Eastern debut tonight, touching down at Dubai super-venue, BASE. This new night is here once a month and features Detroit-based techno hero Stacey Pullen, with New Yorker Jesse Calosso also featuring on the night. Start the week off well. Free. Take on the “spiciest noodles in the UAE” at Miss Tess How do you like your spice? Quirky Asian restaurant Miss Tess is hosting a huge challenge, that involves a massive bowl of fiery noodles. All you have to do is finish the entire spice-laced vat within 20 minutes and you’ll get the noodles, and everyone on you table’s (normal) noodles, absolutely free. Hero Addicted by Luca Valentini at COYA Dubai In this exhibition the artist artfully addresses the impact that mass media and social media platforms have on society by taking iconic covers of newspapers and magazines and reworked them weaving in a mix contemporary art, street art and expressionism. The exhibition is being held at the member’s room at Time Out Dubai’s Latin American Restaurant of the Year 2017 COYA Dubai and sounds like the ultimate food for thought. Until Mar 26, 7pm-9pm. In Between the Skyline of Kuwait City at La Galerie Alliance Française Dubai During her time as an undergraduate student, Farah Salem couldn’t afford to travel, so she decided to become a stranger in her own city and explore the back streets of Kuwait City – and the result is phenomenal. The show, curated by Antidote Art & Design and Alliance Française Dubai, shows the raw beauty of the city and the people that live there. This one is really worth a look. Romance by the water Ibiza beach club El Chiringuito has launched “ECD BY NIGHT”. Cascade by Ian Davenport at Custot Gallery Dubai Cascade is the first exhibition in Dubai by painter Ian Davenport, from England, which will feature 16 new works, each developing Davenport’s rigorous investigation into colour relationships and the painting process. Davenport’s meticulous painting technique plays with timing and chance, allowing carefully selected chromatic palettes to run down to the bottom of the painting in a mesmerising gloop. Skyward by Jason Kackenwerth at The Dubai Mall World renowned experimental artist Jason Hackenwerth, from New York, is in town and has put together a ginormous installation – made entirely of balloons. The 18m tall and 6m wide installation, called Skyward, took eight days in total to blow up and assemble, with a team of assistants on hand to attend to help him inflate. Free. Remix 92 Irish girl band B*Witched lead the line this year, having pumped out massive tracks including C’est La Vie and Blame it on the Weatherman. B*Witched will be joined by S Club 3, the current members of legendary TV and pop sensations S Club 7, who hit stardom with their children’s TV show Miami 7. Lock, Stock & Barrel – JBR The Walk Lip Smacking Music Festival Lock, Stock and Barrel JBR – The Walk is hosting a Lip Smacking Music Festival featuring free food, live music, and an overall cracking good time. The festivities on Friday will mimic a street party with food trucks from around the world and a mini indoor music festival. Tinie Tempah at WHITE Tinie Tempah is bringing the stars out this weekend as the UK hip-hop, rap and grime sensation makes a return to Time Out Dubai’s Club of The Year, 2017, WHITE Dubai. Having last appeared in the UAE to headline a special F1 night to a sold-out crowd at MAD in the capital, Tinie is coming back for two gigs this weekend. The Red Bull Air Race World Championship The Red Bull Air Race World Championship is paying a flying visit to the capital this weekend as a brand new season gets off the ground. The aerial extravaganza will be taking over the Abu Dhabi skyline for the 11th year, with a hugely talented line-up of pilots wowing crowds with their stunning skills. Free.
