It’s a day to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women the world over, and we intend to do it justice. International Women’s Day 2018 falls on Thursday March 8 and though we embrace our womanhood every day of the year, we don’t need much of an excuse to push the boat out. We’ve rounded up a range of events and offers across the city to celebrate ourselves and the special women in our lives with the absolute ferocity that such an occasion deserves, because in the words of Beyoncé – we woke up like this.
Dunesi's Beach Boutique at Beach Lounge Dunesi is debuting its new 2018 collection of women's boho chic resort wear and accessories on the week of International Women's Day. Feast Ladies get 50 percent off dinner at Feast Restaurant this Women’s Day, meaning you can get stuck into international buffet flavours from around the world, while saving money for other Women’s Day treats for yourself. Flow – Meet the Game Changers Flow is celebrating International Women’s Day with a talk from the region’s boldest and most inspiring female visionaries. The theme is #PressForProgress and is conceived to continue empowering women to reach high and achieve their goals. The panel will include Dr. Nadia Buhannad, Founder and Managing Director of Sikologia Consultancy and Training, Raha Moharrak, the first Saudi woman to climb Mount Everest, TV presenter and reporter Rasha Ramadan and Tanaz Dizadji, the CEO and Founder of Insydo. HOLA We love flowers – and eating, which is why the edible mango flower is the perfect way to celebrate International Women’s Day. At HOLA, the Latin American fruit bar at La Mer, there’ll be a two-for-one offer on the Mango Flower, so you can treat an inspirational lady in your life, while getting a nice little treat for yourself. Gaucho We don’t know about the rest of you ladies, but there’s nothing we enjoy more than a big, fat juicy steak, washed down with a few complimentary drinks. Luckily for us, Gaucho are giving women three free drinks this International Women’s Day as part of their weekly Hola Chicas! Novikov Restaurant It’s all going on at Novikov this International Women’s Day, and we are thrilled to see the occasion receive all of the recognition it deserves. Proceedings will kick off with a pop-up bazaar with more than 10 clothing, jewellery, cosmetics and accessory brands on offer, before a fashion industry networking event where you’ll get a complimentary welcome drink. Peyote Peyote is dedicating a whole week to women, themed around Mexican feminist and artist Frida Kahlo. The DIFC Mexican restaurant will be giving away two free glasses of sparkling grape every day from March 8 until March 15 from 8pm until 9pm. Sean Connolly at Dubai Opera There’s a Thursday night treat for the ladies’ this International Women’s Day at Sean Connelly at Dubai Opera. The Bar The Bar at Rixos, The Palm is going all out this International Women’s Day with a band, a dance show, go-go dancers and DJ Jason on the decks. Vida Downtown Vida Downtown is offering two delicious menus this International Women’s Day, catering for the seriously indulgent and the health conscious woman. The Go Dirty menu is full of great taste and big portions including a barbecue beef burger and a chocolate brownie cake with vanilla ice cream. If you’re feeling health-conscious, the Go Clean combination offers avocado burgers (with avo instead of bread) with a selection of a chicken or vegetable patty and a mixed berry bunch and sorbet.
