It’s time to dust off your sombrero, stuff yourself with tacos and beat the living daylights out of a piñata.
Cinco de Mayo falls on Saturday May 5 and we intend to celebrate the Mexican festival with true Latin American fervour.
Being the international wonderland that it is, there’s plenty going on in the city to help us celebrate with suitable vigour and we’ve rounded up some of the best places to get the party started. Ole!
3in1 Vida Downtown is hosting a special version of its Urban Picnic – going Latin-style. The special Cinco de Mayo celebrations will include enchiladas, tacos, sombreros, Mexican drinks and more. Cactus Jacks Cactus Jacks will be offering special dishes from the Puebla region of Mexico along with live performances from a Latino band, a samba and Mexican dance show and capoeira (martial arts) displays.

Loca Go all out with the celebrations with a marathon brunch at Mexican hotspot Loca.
Head down to the restaurant this Cinco de Mayo for a game of traditional Mexican lotria – a game similar to bingo – with the chance to win a load of special prizes.
Dishes include classic slow-roasted ribs, kingfish fajitas and lip-smacking desserts.

Taqado Terminal 1 Cinco de Mayo is boring… said no Juan, ever. And in celebration of the worldwide festival on Saturday May 5, Taqado Mexican Kitchen is offering a medium burrito for just Dhs15.

Peyote Expect immersive décor, live entertainment and a vibrant Mexican atmosphere during the Peyote Cinco de Mayo brunch. Dishes are served to the table between 12.30pm and 4pm, with special drinks offers in the lounge available from 4pm to 6pm.
Starting with a selection of entradas and tacos, you can get social over sharing plates such as huevos cazuela, tosta de avocado, ceviche verde, chicken pibil taco with pickled red onion and taco de carne asada.

ZOCO Join in the Mexican Fiesta in true Latin American style at ZOCO this Cinco de Mayo.
There’ll be a range of live street food trolleys of authentic Mexican bites to get stuck into including guacamole (Dhs60), ceviche (Dhs70), tacos (Dhs60) and churros (Dhs55).
