The Cove
We headed out to Ras Al Khaimah to check out the region’s newest resort... 1 Comments
Where do you think of when you’re planning a weekend away from Dubai? Fujairah, naturally, or maybe Abu Dhabi? But rarely would a weekend in Ras Al Khaimah spring to mind. Think again. We headed out to the Cove Rotana in RAK and could not have been more pleasantly surprised.
The hotel is about an hour away from Dubai, set along the coast of one of our smaller neighbouring emirates, the lesser-known RAK. It opened back in March 2009 and has been constantly packed with bus loads of German and Russian tour parties ever since. Not to mention the ever-increasing number of locals who have bought holiday homes in the resort.
Split into one, two, and three-bedroom villas, as well as hotel rooms and suites, the resort provides something that you can’t always find in the UAE – space. Low rise lanes of villas are negotiated by golf carts and minivans, with drivers on hand 24 hours a day to shuttle guests between the resort’s restaurants, pools and the beach. They’re a blessing over the summer but in the cooler months finding somewhere that you can stroll around is a real plus so many guests choose to abandon a lift in favour of a post-dinner constitutional.
During the day, there are two pools, a lovely beach and a kids club to keep families entertained as well as a wide choice of water sports, if you’re feeling adventurous. The weekly Friday brunch is also a popular spot if you’ve had your fill of fun in the sun.
Essentially, it’s the perfect weekend away - near enough to negate travel woes but remote enough to feel like a proper escape. We’ll certainly be back.

I spent few days in the Cove Rotana last month and it was really a wonderful experience, every thing was great especially the swimming pool, the water was really cold and refreshing, and the rates are really affordable.
I argue all to try it.
Cheers
