Dar Al Masyaf, Madinat Jumeirah
Even by Dubai’s high standards of service and luxury, the Dar Al Masyaf summer houses are a little bit special. The 29 villas that make up the resort are the most sought-after beachfront properties in Dubai. Each consists of large rooms and suites designed to support the resort’s Arabic themes of décor and service. They offer the privacy of secluded surroundings as well as access to the rest of the Madinat’s extensive facilities. With one pool to every three villas and 24-hour butler services, the palatial villas are wonderfully elegant. Assuming you can stretch to the hefty price tag, the two-storied quarters with their lush, intimate settings and intricately landscaped gardens will excite even the most blasé of holidaymakers. Rooms can be reached by taking a walk through the lush gardens or by a short abra ride through the private canals.
The essentials
•Guests have unlimited access to nearby Wild Wadi waterpark.
•A 24-hour butler is that much more personal than room service and the Dar Al Masyaf boasts one per summer house.
•The stretch of private beach that runs from the Dar Al Masyaf is the best stroll in Dubai. A convenient walkway runs past the Burj Al Arab as far as the iconic 360 bar in the Jumeirah Beach Hotel. All three hotels are operated by the Jumeirah group and there is some sharing of facilities between the three.
•A majilis meeting room is located in each summer house. Free drinks are given to guests from 6pm to 8pm every day.
•The low-rise design of these hotels is in stark contrast with many properties in sky-high Dubai. While this will not be to the tastes of many, other holidaymakers may prefer the quiet privacy of a secluded garden.
