As you’d expect from the name, this comfortable crash pad is within spitting distance of Dubai’s main airport terminal and attracts a great deal of fleeting business from European suits and crew. Kenny G muzak aside, the marble-heavy hotel foyer is elegant and inviting, while the large swimming pool and banks of green grass make it a low-key family favourite. Rooms are large (a twin share could easily sleep four cosy adults), airy and have pleasant views of the gardens.

Wardrobe space and beds are both ample and a subtle Arabic touch runs throughout the decor and furnishings. The hourly airport bus service makes it an obvious choice for business travellers, but leisure visitors will also find the place a perfectly comfortable and decent place to stay – although it’s a long way from the beach.
