Al Qasr Hotel, Madinat Jumeirah

The ‘jewel in the crown’ of the Madinat Jumeirah resort Reviews

More stately and ostentatious than its sister Mina A’Salam, Al Qasr was designed to reflect the royal summer residence while providing the ‘jewel in the crown’ of the Madinat resort. It’s certainly grandiose; the huge lobby with Arabian lanterns and plump cushions leads to an opulent cigar lounge, continuing the theme of the Mina A’Salam, although the bedrooms here are larger than those in its sister hotel.

What makes Al Qasr stand out, however, is its 24-hour butler service (not quite the Burj – here you have to share your Jeeves with 11 other rooms), its 2km of private beach and its proximity to the Talise Spa, one of the most sensational spas in the Gulf.

There are club executive (kid-free) lounges and a kids’ club as well as a separate pool, so although Al Qasr is family friendly, you can also have an adults-only break without much intrusion. Transportation through the immense resort is through both water taxis and golf buggies.

I love the Al Qasr Brunch. The variety of dishes is astounding, the quality of food is excellent, and the service is always friendly and attentive. It would be nice to be served real bubbly, especially if you've booked for a special occasion, but with so many other drink choices available you don't feel like you're missing out when comparing it to other brunches that do serve the real thing. The only downside is the price, but even though I'm occasionally tempted to try somewhere new (and cheaper), I invariably end up coming back here because the entire experience is unbeatable.

We love this place. With so many brunches now more expensive, this would be our only choice and only on a special occasion.
