Ritz-Carlton

Immaculately presented European-style hotel overlooking the Arabian Gulf Reviews

The most classically stylish of Dubai’s hotels, the Ritz-Carlton is immaculately presented with a grand marble lobby and gigantic windows offering uninterrupted views of the white sand and lapping Arabian Gulf.

Too traditional for those who get off on Arabian chic, the hotel is all about European formality with luxury gently woven into its core. The wooden-beamed tea lounge could happily host a football match, the terrace is a delight at sunset and the beach has cosy made-for-two sun loungers. A separate adults-only pool offers peace for couples, and even the family dip-pit is large and languid.

All the spacious rooms look out to sea and enjoy private balconies, sumptuous soft furnishings and the most comfortable beds in Dubai. The bathrooms again are an exercise in comfort, with vast, glass-fronted showers and baths deeper than Sartre. For a relaxed stay with some old-world charm, the Ritz ticks all the right boxes. Make sure you visit for afternoon tea and check out the in-house spa that offers both Asian and Arabic-inspired treatments.

My wife and I married and stayed at the Ritz-Carlton. It's a beautiful hotel, the service is fantastic, as are the restaurants. Considering the amount of construction work that was going on in the area at the time (in Nov 2007), we were worried that the perfectly manicured gardens would be affected by construction noise. We were pleasantly surprised that this was not the case. Alas our stay was only one night, that said I would highly recommend this hotel.
