Modern and virtually scratch-free, the hotel formerly known as the Holiday Inn is comfortable without being stuffy and while lacking the wow factor of the beach hotels, it still offers an inviting ambience. The panorama from the medium-sized rooms is all inner-city Dubai, with the choice limited to apartment blocks, empty stretches of sand or the hotel lobby. That said, the orthopaedic beds are comfy and the furnishings adequate.
The suites and executive rooms are a leap up from the standard ones and feature Jacuzzis in the bathrooms. Health fanatics are well catered to: the gym is roomy and includes separate sex aerobics spaces and massage rooms, while the rooftop boasts a large and lovely pool deck area and jogging track (plus snack bar). Fine, but at the time of going to press the Rydges Plaza was offering much more for considerably less.
