Comfortable without being stuffy, the Mövenpick offers an inviting ambience. The panorama from the medium-sized rooms is all inner-city Dubai, but the beds are comfy and the furnishings adequate.

The suites and executive rooms are a leap up from the standard ones, featuring Jacuzzis in the bathrooms. Business facilities are excellent, and fitness fanatics are well catered to with a gym and health club that offers innovative classes like power bhangra alongside the usual staples.

Meanwhile, the rooftop boasts a large and lovely pool deck area and, um, a jogging track. It’s a solid bet for access to the business districts and the odd shopping expedition.
