One&Only Royal Mirage
Ornate low rise hotel with distinctive Arabian decoration and romantic beach 1 Reviews
Styled on an Arabian fort, the Royal Mirage is still Dubai’s most romantic resort, despite some stiff competition from Madinat Jumeirah.
It’s composed of three hotels: the Palace, the Arabian Court and the Residence, each one plusher and more expensive than the last. While many of Dubai’s landmarks owe their success to a degree of shock and awe, the Royal Mirage presents an illusion of days gone by with welcome subtlety.
The complex’s simple low-rise architecture holds sumptuous interiors of rich fabrics and intricate woodwork. Iron lanterns throw patterned candlelight onto sand-coloured walls, and pockets of rooms are interspersed with Moorish arches and verdant gardens. Add the delicate use of gold and warm tones throughout, and the scene is set for the ultimate romantic getaway.
The hotel is never more beautiful than at night, when couples emerge to take quiet strolls down past the pool and on to the beach before ending the night up on The Roof Top for drinks. Deluxe rooms are sensibly sized and packed with wonderful examples of attention to detail, from the slippers by the bed to the hand towel artfully folded into the shape of a swan.
Every inch of the Royal Mirage seems designed to make you feel good about life; we’d happily hole up here permanently (budget permitting, of course).
Time Out Dubai,
