Amid Deira’s bustle lies the Coral hotel. A short drive from the airport, it dominates Muraqqabat Street and is one of only two five star hotels in Dubai that doesn’t serve alcohol (the Taj Palace being the other).

As such, the Coral is popular with visitors from the Gulf countries, particularly businessmen from Saudi Arabia. Get past the unconvincing exterior purple lights and the hotel is relatively stylish in look and warm in atmosphere.

Modern-day comforts include Villeroy & Boch bathrooms with elongated tubs, while excellent business facilities include two conference rooms and a well-equipped business centre. There’s even a florist on site. The courtesy coach service and travel reservations are handy if you’re pressed for time.
