If you’re searching for support or simply want to meet new mums, head down to new baby and toddler group Mum and Me Morning. A midwife and lactation consultant, as well as a health visitor, will be on hand to answer your baby-related questions and you can share the ups and downs of motherhood with other mums.

FREE! Arts festival at Ductac
Embrace your creative sprit with an all-singing, all-dancing day out at Ductac’s annual Open Day, where the entire family can try an array of artistic activities and be wowed by live drama and dance performances. Pint-sized Picassos can get stuck into mural painting and pottery, while mum meanders around the art market for unusual crafts and dad works up an appetite bashing it out at a traditional African drum circle. There’s also drama, dance and storytelling sessions, and the chance to create your own unique piece of family art at the Mega designer toy workshop.

Saturday 6

Shop smart at Safa Park flea market
Bag a bargain – everything from books, DVDs and toys to clothes, accessories and home stuff – and enjoy the buzz of this busy and bustling flea market. Cook up a storm with Little Chefs
Juggling mums rejoice! The Fabulous Food for Busy Families workshop is back with a two-hour cooking course that will help you manage meal times and rustle up healthy family dishes, so you can finally ditch the drive-through and give your kids tasty, healthy dinners.
Dhs250. 10am-noon. Little Chefs Dubai, behind Metropolitan Hotel, hungrymum@yahoo.com.

Sunday 7

Book your little swinger into Kindergarten Golf
Aimed at four- to seven-year-olds, these weekly golf sessions over eight weeks at Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club introduce tee-time tots to the basics of this civilised, global game. Lessons include that all-important pitch and putt technique, helping to instil discipline and concentration, all in a fun, safe environment.
Dhs800 for eight weekly one-hour lessons. Next course starts November 28. Choice of timings and venues. www.dubaigolf.com (04 295 6000).

See a movie with a message at the cinema
Up your child’s eco ante with a cinematic viewing of new film Sammy’s Adventures: The Secret Passage. This animated environmental tale follows a sea turtle who hatches in 1959 and spends the next 50 years travelling the world under attack by global warming. It’s an educational excuse for popcorn in the dark.
In cinemas across Dubai.
