The shopping festival, which runs until February 20, brings with it all sorts of retail and entertainment shenanigans, including mall activities designed to keep junior entertained while you have fun with the credit card. One of the highlights is the fireworks festival down at Marina Promenade at Festival Centre. Watch the sky – and your kids’ eyes – light up at this extravaganza.

Bag a bargain at Dubai Baby & Children’s market
This month the market has moved to a new location (Star International School in Umm Al Sheif), but it will still feature the same beautiful boutique kiddie products and popular ‘pre-loved’ stalls of second-hand goods. A great morning out, mums can mooch for a bargain while the kids bounce themselves silly on the bouncy truck, and all proceeds go to charity. Pack your earplugs and get your kids into the groove at the funky Dance Mania sessions at Fun City, Oasis Centre. Diddy boppers aged three to 12 can strut their stuff to tunes from TV and movie faves such as High School Musical, the Jonas brothers, Hannah Montana and Camp Rock, while there’ll also be tons of games, prizes and face painting – as well as energy-boosting snacks and juice – for those who need a break from all that boogying.

Ice skating fun at Dubai Mall
Share the thrill of the ice with your little one at Dubai Ice Rink’s mums-and-tots skating sessions. Arrive for the first session of the day and the pair of you will pay just Dhs50. If you want to hone your skills, an instructor is on hand to help you through the wobbly stages – perfect for tots aged two to seven. Hot chocolates afterwards also go down a treat.
