Catch Barney live at the Mother, Baby & Child Show
The loveable dinosaur will be on stage every day, where he’ll be performing his song-and-dance routines – it’s an interactive show, so audience participation is a must. The event is a chance to meet local retailers and entertainers, as well as ask the experts, join seminars and test new products. It’s the largest family event of its kind in Dubai, with everything you need to know about bumps, babies and beyond.

Meet Santa Claus at the Souk Festive Market
The Madinat’s Christmas market has plenty of fun and festive activities for all of the family. As well as Santa, there’ll be a Christmas train station, a winter forest, snowball throwing, T-shirt painting, Christmas movies, a cookie slide and festive balloon bending. There will also be stalls selling traditional gifts, and an ample selection of food and beverage stands, from gingerbread houses and candied fruits, to mulled drinks for mum and dad.

Gorge on stollen at Mall of the Emirates
Throughout the day, the Kempinski will be holding its annual stollen charity cake sale, where the main attraction will be a giant 480-metre stollen (a traditional German cake). The fun starts at 10am, with bell ringing, face painting for the kids and an appearance by Santa and mall mascot Miss Frost.

Editor’s pick Make furry friends at the PoshPaws Animal Sanctuary Fun Day
Expect some good old-fashioned fun at this al-fresco fête. There will be games, refreshments, a tombola, cake stand and a treasure hunt, guess the weight of the donkey, plus the chance to meet PoshPaws residents at the petting farm. There will also be plenty of animals that are up for adoption. All proceeds go towards caring for the animals.

Editor’s Pick Bake up a storm at Hey Sugar
The bakery’s latest concept, Mix Batter and Bake, gives kids the chance to create their own festive treats. In the morning session, kids will don a chef’s hat to bake and decorate gingerbread cookies. In the afternoon, it’s all about decorating gingerbread houses – they’ll get a chefs hat, and as many sweets as they’ll need.

The latest movie, called The Muppets, is set in the present day: the Muppet theatre is threatened with demolition by baddy Tex Richman, who has discovered oil beneath it. Walter, the world’s biggest Muppet fan, can save the day, but only with the help of some friends.
