Enjoy a bird’s-eye views from a cable car
The perfect afternoon activity, Creek Park’s cable-car ride is a 30-minute treat for little ones. You’ll get a fantastic view over the manicured gardens of this popular park, while taking in the sights, sounds and smells of Dubai Creek. The trip also provides some great photo opportunities: the ride takes you all the way from Garhoud Bridge to the Floating Bridge, and the kids will love the fact that they get to dangle over the afternoon traffic on the highway.
Dhs25 per person. Daily 10am-11pm. Ongoing. Creek Park, near Garhoud Bridge (04 336 7633).

Stuff your face aboard the Chocolate Bus
If you haven’t caught the Chocolate Bus around town yet, it’s your last chance today! This treat-delivering double decker has been doing the rounds in Dubai and Abu Dhabi for the past month, and you can hop aboard to taste treats such as Snickers, Galaxy, Twix and M&Ms, all completely free.
Find out the bus’s location via the Twitter hashtag #chocolatebus.

Thursday 17

See the dolphin and seal show at Dubai Dolphinarium
Grab a seat to witness the graceful dolphins showing off their smart skills: Senya walks on her tail, Tetka and Jerry juggle with balls, Fekla dances the twist, and Ksyusha paints. It’s a fun end-of-week treat that the whole family will enjoy.
Dhs120-140 (adults), Dhs80-100 (kids). Mon-Sat 11am and 6pm, with an additional 3pm performance on Fridays and Saturdays. Dubai Dolphinarium, Creek Park, near Garhoud Bridge, www.dubaidolphinarium.ae (04 336 9773).

Friday 18

Have a Bubbalicious brunch at The Westin
Take the family for a blow-out brunch this weekend and prepare to be amazed by the entertainment on offer for all ages. The Westin definitely does things a little differently when it comes to brunch: little ones will love the hands-on petting zoo, the Chinese juggling and acrobatics act and, of course, the face-painting, bouncy castle, balloon-bending and crafts on offer in the supervised kids’ area. Oh, and the never-ending spread of food is awesome too.
Dhs350-490 (adults), Dhs199 (kids age six to 12), free for kids under six. Fri 1pm-4pm. Ongoing. The Westin Mina Seyahi, www.westinminaseyahi.com (04 511 7136).

Saturday 19

Discover local fauna at the Arabian Wildlife Centre
Situated just off Al Dhaid Road, the Arabian Wildlife Centre is an indoor facility surrounded by animal enclosures. The big cats, oryx, gazelles, ostriches and more live behind observation windows, enabling you to get up close and personal with these amazing creatures. The petting zoo next door also houses camels, ponies, cows, sheep and donkeys.
Dhs15 per person; free for kids under 12. Open Sun-Thu 9am-5.30pm (closed Tue), Fri 2pm-5.30pm, Sat 11am-5.30pm. Ongoing. Al Dhaid Road, www.breedingcentresharjah.com/WildlifeCentre (06 531 1999).

Sunday 20

Stake out some prehistoric beasts at Dino Live
Budding paleontologists will love this animatronic exhibition of lifelike dinosaurs, which gives kids the chance to hear the T-Rex roar and see the swishing tail of the diplodocus. There’s even a dinosaur ride for kids who are brave enough.
Dhs50 per person; free for kids under three. Open daily 10am-10pm. Ongoing. Dubai Festival City, www.dino-live.com (055 949 5787).

Try a climbing lesson at Wafi Pyramids
Little thrill-seekers can get their kicks through learning to climb the professional indoor climbing wall at Wafi City’s Pharaohs’ Club.
