Make the most of the cool weather by organising your children’s birthdays in the fresh air. Mummy bloggers Louise from Mum of Boys (www.mumofboys.co.uk) and Corrine from Mommy in Dubai (www.mommyindubai.com) have put together a few top tips to help your bash go with a bang.

• ‘The best time to host an outdoor party in the UAE is between the months of November-March.’

• ‘If you don’t have a garden, make use of the numerous free or affordable parks in Dubai by taking along a blanket and hosting your party on the lawn. All you need is a rug, a few helium balloons and ready-made food to serve. Make it into a Teddy Bear’s Picnic and ask all the children to bring along their teddy bear to join in the party.’

• ‘Be prepared for wind. Secure your party tablecloth down with double-sided tape and make sure any banners/decorations are fastened properly.’

• ‘Make sure your balloons have strong enough weights on them so they do not fly away and for optimal durability have your balloon shop coat the inside of the balloons with a special formula called Hi-Float so they last longer.’

• ‘If you do not have enough seating for children/adults then cushions and blankets placed through the garden make for a nice and relaxed atmosphere.’

• ‘Cover your party food with pretty food covers to keep the pesky flies and insects away.’

• ‘You can never have enough thirst quenching drinks for your guests especially when it is warm. Fill up a large decorative bowl or bucket with ice and a healthy mix of beverages for everyone.’

Two themed parties that work brilliantly outdoors

Wacky science
‘A Mad Science Outdoor Party is fun but messy and wet, so cleaning up will be much easier when held outdoors. The kids can create explosions, make soda fountains, fly a rockets and make slime, bouncing balls or putty!’

Animal magic
‘Pet parties are fun for animals and kids! We can do amazing pet parties, with walk the ferret, feed the baby goat, dance with the parrot, and photo opportunities with Peter the python.’
Laura Glanfield, Poshpaws Animal Sanctuary & Petting Farm, www.poshpawsdubai.com
