oogie Babies has a winning formula of music-making that is energising the little ones of Dubai with fun and active sessions. Utilising the principles of educational kinesiology, Boogie Babies focusses on the development of the child’s body, brain and social skills through music, play and interaction.

Music classes are fundamental to babies’ and toddlers’ pre-school development and at a 30-minute Boogie Babies session, the little students get a real workout, with social singing, complemented by pom poms, bubbles and a variety of instruments to make as much noise as possible. The repetitive nature of the classes, which feature the same hello and goodbye song each week, contributes to a child’s sense of security. It’s this repetition that’s the foundation of many aspects of learning, too.

And it’s not just the tots who are having fun. “The classes are a perfect way to meet new people,” says Boogie Babies’ general manager Nedina Mehmedovic. “In lots of our classes you’ll see friendships forming and they’ll all get excited to see one another. Over the years, we have met a number of people who have formed long-term friendships with people from Boogie Babies classes, and then years’ later they are returning with their siblings.”

The teachers who lead the classes play an important role, too. All trained performers with extensive experience in movement and dance classes (and many of them mums themselves), they possess the skills necessary to make these classes special, including acting, patience, compassion, enthusiasm and confidence. Each new teacher begins by attending a number of classes as an observer, shadowing and then assisting, before taking their own classes.

With two separate sessions, one for toddlers and confident walkers up to the age of three years and the other for babies and new walkers from four months of age, the team at Boogie Babies has the music needs of Dubai’s little movers and groovers covered. Building on its success, it also has plans to expand in Dubai and and other countries in the Gulf. So, grab your maracas and get grooving!
Classes start from Dhs65 (includes a 30-minute class and 30 minutes in the soft play area). Various locations across Dubai, www.boogiebabies.ae (050 884 1966).
