Turn trash into cash at Mirdif Fashion Weekend

Calling all eco-conscious parents! Now is the perfect chance to teach your kids that recycling is ALWAYS in style, as Mirdif City Centre is asking 11-year-olds to design their own outfits made out of aluminum, plastic, paper and any other recyclable items they can get their little hands on. They can get as wild and as wacky as they like (see photo gallery above), and use those creative juices (and discarded juice cartons) to make something really special. Once all the submissions have been collected, the winning designs will be chosen and those budding stylists and “trashionistas” behind them will have the chance to see their garish garments appear on the catwalk at the Mirdif City Centre Spring / Summer Festival Trashion Show, as part of Mirdif Fashion Weekend, on Friday March 31.

Each child who takes part will also receive a goodie bag, with vouchers worth Dhs600, to spend at Mirdif, Play Nation and Magic Planet! And, the three finalists could also win up to Dhs5,000 (now, that’s a lot of tokens).

So, they learn a thing or two about protecting the environment, turn their hands to a new skill AND get to enjoy near-unlimited playtime. It’s a win-win.

To find out more about this year’s Trashion show and sign up for your place on the catwalk, email trashion2017@itp.com before Tuesday March 28, 2017.
