1762 Stripped review

A new venue living up to the original favourite

We already love the vibrant, buzzing Media City branch of this popular artisan café, and we were curious to see how the newly-opened 1762 Stripped branch, in the business heart of JLT, will cater for two (fairly tired) parents and a couple of cranky, post-school day kids. Relief! It works.

Taking over a large space on the ground floor of a swanky office building, this is one hang-out that is ensuring its family-friendliness. Until they whipped out the extensive kids’ menu (created and tested by a mum-of-two).

The youngest is happily distracted by the colouring pencils while she waits for her crispy chicken strips, and the oldest cracks on with the food-themed word search until her cheese toastie melt arrives, along with homemade wedges at a reasonably priced Dhs25.

The salads we order are as tasty as the ones we’re used to from 1762 in Dubai, and the coffee is as satisfyingly good. But it’s a shame the carrot cake had run out by lunchtime! The popping candy hot chocolate to finish saved the day, though.

Service is friendly – although admittedly a little fraught at times – and the outdoor terrace is surrounded by glittering skyscrapers. It’s also located directly opposite a large park, which is a big bonus for families looking for an early mid-week dinner.
Open daily 8am-6pm. Unlicensed. Ground floor, The One, Jumeirah Lakes Towers (800 1762).

The bottom line
Kids are most definitely welcome.
