Where did you go to school?
I went to boarding school in the Natal Midlands in South Africa. It was called Treverton College.

What was your favourite subject?
Geography. I was taught by an amazing teacher who was also chairman of the Flat Earth Society.

What was the naughtiest thing you did at school?
Keeping homeless kittens in my hostel room and bunking school to feed them during the school day. My house mother wasn’t impressed but when I got sent to the principal, he rewarded me instead of punishing me.

What was your greatest challenge at school?
I spoke too much in class instead of focusing on my work. I was a real chatterbox!

Looking back, who was your most memorable teacher?
Mr Irving was my Sunday School teacher when I was two, my maths teacher in grade seven and gave me my first teaching job after I qualified. Then, 12 years later, he married my husband and I at our wedding service in South Africa!
